Yep, the Clemson situation is crazy. It's not nearly as satisfying as watching a Bama fall or an Ohio State, but while it reduces the value of our win it should help us in the long term. This is a team that defaulted to being the 2nd/3rd best team in the nation pre-season with its overhype vs us being only the 5th best.

It'd be interesting to see how much previous success lends to getting the best recruits. They won't and don't have that advantage starting now. If coaches start getting fired, they may not be able to recover for quite some time.

Not sure the Clemson game should be completely discounted. Clemson was at full strength for game 1 especially defensively. 10 returning starters. Bresee was probably a 1st team AA had he stayed healthy. The team Pitt played was not the same Clemson team UGA played. More of a case of UGA breaking Clemson's psyche by dominating and bullying them. Hopefully Clemson goes away now. Their entire program was built on the luck of recruiting 2 GA QBs. Clemson will not be able to maintain their previous levels. CKS has built a stronger program and UGA will recruit better in GA cutting off the life blood of the Clemson program. Many more NIL opportunities in GA than rural SC.

I said all off season you can't lose a Larence and and Entiene (generational talents) and some of there other pieces they lost to the draft and be the same great team. I said the same about BAMA and Ohio St. And it is showing, of course if anyone can build back better than Ohio St. it would be BAMA. But still not the same quality team as last year.

Exactly. We had difficulty scoring, to be sure. But their defense was the real deal when we played them, and we did so with an injured quarterback, an unsettled offensive line and just about all of our top receivers either out our limited, resulting in a highly conservative gameplan. On the other side of the ball, everyone is pointing to their struggles on offense to argue that they're not a quality team, and there certainly is merit to that. But our defense outscored their offense, and it would be just plain unreasonable to ever say that's not good or impressive enough, no matter the opponent. So I don't buy this narrative that the Clemson win "doesn't count" now (or however people want to put it).

All that being said, it won't matter. This horse left the barn a long time ago, and wherever Georgia ends up in mid-January, it won't be because of the Clemson game.
