A little surprised JD wasn't on top of this through the finish line of the season, but glad he sees it now and is preparing accordingly. More importantly, it's comforting knowing the whole team is bought into being at their very best right now-- peaking, if you will-- for this championship game. Then we'll know, at the end of Monday night, that the best team really did win... no excuses, ifs, ands, or buts. Go Dawgs!

Yep, there are no more excuses. No major unexpected injuries. No motivation issues, no "they caught us offguard".

This will truly be the evaluation if where we are at as a program. Both teams had mirrored dominate victories in a playoff game. No "they got more rest" (other than a few hour head start). No "they had to make a statement".

WE have more reason to win than anybody, so if we can't do it... then, well, I'm not sure that we will in the next 10 years. No overdramatic "fire Smart" (because they'd be moronic, literally). But instead, just realizing that we're more like a Notre Dame team than an Alabama team and well, that's okay.

I firmly believe this game comes down to coaching. The biggest lead or deficit doesn't matter, it's about finishing the game with a higher score. We will find out soon enough.

In the SECCG, which I watched with a friend who is a Georgia and also a Michigan fan, a guy who was a high school football star growing up in Michigan, he commented that Jordan Davis looked out of shape.

I've not asked him if Jordan Davis was out of shape in the Orange Bowl.

Man, we need Davis at his best Monday night. Sounds like he figured it out during and after the SECCG. That is huge.

    Go, Dawgs!

I kind of see what you're saying, but this is our second championship appearance in 5 years. ND is still looking for their first in the playoff era, and just lost their head coach because he saw greener grass. We can not be Bama and still be better than the likes of Notre Dame.

@kirkhilles....couldn't have said it better myself. Agree with you on everything except the part about maybe just ending up being only as good as Notre Dame. I don't agree with that seeing we've beaten them twice since 2016. I think if we don't beat Bama tomorrow - probably our best opportunity EVER given that we just played them and all the other things you mentioned - then it DOES come down to coaching. We have no more excuses. The pressure is on. Feel like we can do it.

Couple of observations. Giving up the open short pass yardage to Young's receivers is asking for even the best defensive unit in the country to be gassed in the second half when games are won or lost.

Also, please have somebody at home when the pass rush passes the passer and leaves the whole field open. Sorry, I just hate slow bleeding. Go DAWGS!!

Notre Dame hasn't come close to UGA in terms of recruiting, and that includes Kirby's first year as head coach. So to say we'll play second fiddle to Bama is one thing, but to say we'll be a Notre Dame type team in doing so is undervaluing what Kirby has accomplished.

Now, do I think Kirby has made mistakes with on the field coaching? Sure. But we have to also keep in mind that Kirby is 45 years old. Saban is 70. Saban has been doing this way the hell longer than Kirby, and we've seen incredible strides in Kirby's on-the-field coaching abilities, which include halftime adjustments.

This isn't to say UGA will win tomorrow. This isn't to say Kirby will have a Saban-like career. This is simply to say that one coach has been doing this a helluva lot longer than the other, yet despite that, Kirby has built a program that can go toe to toe with the elder's team on any given Saturday. I firmly believe that even if we lose, we're poised to be a thorn in Saban's side at the very least until he retires.

Jordan...how slim? You can maintain body weight and turn it into muscle and stay in shape...have done it. I know he has weight problems. Kirby was quite vocal about it. Hopefully, he can maintain his needed strength while toning up.

Watch JD and the rest of the front seven gettin’ after it in the fourth quarter of the Orange Bowl and you’ll see a totally different team than the one in Atlanta! I like what they appeared to have done to get ready for this game! Shows a focus and a desire not to be embarrassed again!

    I like our chances!

    Go Dawgs!

If Kirby turns Monken loose, we will win. If not... well, keep your foot on the gas, Kirby. For real this time.

I’m not sold on we were out of shape 100%, as sluggish as we looked in seccg it looked pathological. Just my 2cents.

either way, I’m hoping UGA comes out and blasts Bama by 35 points. I’d love nothing more than a stress free viewing of the natty tonight. Regardless, In the words of Al Davis…… just win baby!

THey had to strain harder than they were used to and it affected them. All year long it's been a piece of cake til that SECC game.

Absolutely, we're not going to lineup and smash mouth BAMA, but if we play with fury on offense getting the ball out to the playmakers we can win.
