My issue with some Georgia fans

I heard Stetson Bennett say he was no longer a fan and you can’t be both a fan and a player. To hear this disgusted me. It didn’t bother me that Stetson said it but it bothered me that this is how he felt. I was then reminded of how he had been ridiculed repeatedly by the media to include those who cover the program. Then I was reminded of how he had been ridiculed on social media thru out this season and booed by Georgia fans when his name was mentioned over the PA system as the starting QB in the UAB game. How could this be possible? What is wrong with society? I grew up watching QB’s like James Jackson, Wayne Johnson, Buck Belue, Mike Bobo, John Lastinger…etc….play @ Georgia. I can assure you none were as talented as Stetson Bennett and we surely didn’t boo them. We stood behind them thru thick and thin and supported them thru the good, bad and **** times and trust me when I say the word **** because there were a lot of **** seasons. Some could say well there was no social media back then and that’s why, but I beg to differ. People were different for the better back than they are now. That was also a timeframe when we viewed the confederate flag aka rebel flag as a symbol for being proud to be from the South and nothing more. Those days were some of the best days of my life. Something has stripped us of our past and we have lost that southern heritage that consisted of good manners, respect toward our elders, yes ma’am and no ma’am, proud to be a Georgia Bulldog and proud to be from the South. We didn’t bad mouth the players nor the coaches. We bled red and black and thought Larry Munson was God and the only way to know football scores was from the Dixie Crystal scoreboard. With that being said I hope we beat Bama tomorrow nite and it’s not due to the fan base. I wanna win for the players like Stetson Bennett and Nakobe Dean and Jordan Davis and Brock Bowers and for the entire team and the coaching staff. However if we don’t win I will not be on social media blasting the coaches or players because at the end of the day I’m reminded that the university owes me nothing and I was born a proud Georgia fan and will die a proud Georgia fan and the outcome of one game will never trump the great memories and pride I take in being from the South and bleeding red and black…Go Dawgs!!!
