I wish that most of those commenting on social media, most hiding behind anonymous accounts, would take a pause before they hit send or post and think.....How would I feel if this were my son? Would I want someone posting comments like this about my boy?
I think UGA's coaches have more than earned our trust to do what is in the best interest of the program AND for each individual player. The great thing for all of us is that we can enjoy the fact that we have the best coached players on the field putting forth a great effort that we can proudly call "Our Team". Buying a ticket to a game or making a donation does not give you any rights or authority to belittle what often times are teenage boys. I realize they are becoming young men, but if you want the best efforts from them don't weigh them down with your armchair QB opinions and hateful talk. A mentor once taught me..."Don't think with ink", meaning that you don't always have to put in writing thoughts that are going through your head.
I love this program, it's coaches and staff, and of course the players!! Go Dawgs!
Good article about the QB room. Excited to see the competition and what shakes out from it. VERY sad to see Burton leave, really thought that he would have had an absolute breakout season coming up. I hope he does not transfer to BAMA.
Some of what’s being said is embarrassing, but the truth is Bennett has earned a reputation of forcing throws and is inconsistent with his accuracy. He balled out in the playoffs and if we get more of THAT Bennett, who throws it away when he should and doesn’t make limp wristed throws, we’ll be just fine next year. I think something that’s making this issue more of a hot topic than it would be otherwise is that everyone deep down is afraid of another Fields situation, where we go from having depth at QB to not knowing who our QB will be 2 weeks from the first game due to transfers. I think a lot of people just want stability in the long game at that position given how volatile it’s been in recent years.
How someone could down vote you on what you said here is beyond me. The Truth is that as with much of our society Some people Love controversy. They seem to thrive on gossip and chaos. Sort of like why Some people love soap operas. Another Truth is that if many of these controversy loving type fans had been coaches we’d have Not won the National Title and had to wait another 41 years !! Your comments were spot on !!
This has and always will be THE problem: Fans identify with a team so deeply that their very worth rises and falls with each win or loss. Until people get a grip on reality and gain some perspective…until WE stop deifying these young men and asking them to do something, be something they never will be—God—reactions like this will always rule the day.
Bennet starts 2022 with one injury from having #2 Vandagriff take his place. Beck hits the transfer portal. Stockton will learn the system and battle it out with Vandagriff for 2023 starter. if Vandagriff platoons with Bennett in 2022 then Stockton might hit the portal, anyways. Vandagriff/Stockton who doesn't start in 2023 will hit the portal. no thoroughbred wants to redshirt and then sit 2 more years. all good problems to have with a loaded QB room. Saban deals with this type of scenario every year. Now we do, too. In CKS we trust. GO DAWGS!
Our last 2 National Championship QBs were not NFL caliber QBs, but they are winners! UGA has had a long line of non-NFL caliber QBs, but they were all winners (that’s the common thread)!
Look, lets take several steps back here. First off, there will ALWAYS be trolls and people that say very **** things: that's just humanity. Next, keep in mind that passionate fans are... passionate. The highs and lows and anger and joy are part of it. OF COURSE all of us are going to have our opinions and we are going to feel strongly about it. Again: passionate fans and we need an outlet for that passion. If you question the loyalty of our fans, just check out the capacity celebration at the stadium and the parade. Fans showed up not to benefit themselves but to give their love for their team. No football game. Just there to cheer.
