It is ironic how Saban moved away from the "defense wins championships" approach, while one of his students kept the faith, and beat Saban using the old tried and true method.

In some ways Saban's change in philosophy made it easier for Smart to recruit the best of the best defensive recruits away from Alabama and to Georgia.

I hope Smart can keep winning by playing the best defense and special teams, while also using a balanced attack on offense. Some seem to like watching the offense throw the ball all over the field and whichever offense has the ball last wins. I prefer seeing a combination of offense, defense and special teams all playing an equal part in deciding the outcome of the game. That is what Kirby's team did in 2021 and that's why Georgia had the best team in college football.
