ATHENS — Billy Napier may have been hired by Florida because of the lessons he learned from Alabama coach Nick Saban in the five seasons he spent with him, but the new Gators’ head coach has some tricks of his own.

    Mike, why would you devote a whole column to Florida’s NIL and strategy? At UGA, we just want to beat the Gators, not read about them.

    If a slush fund used to pay players can be set up as a 501(c)(3) then the U.S. Tax Code should be changed immediately to prevent this.

    In other words he's saying college football is no longer amateur athletics and we are now a professional league and you can now open up those checkbooks.

    @Silver_Britches

    Just wondering what kind of NIL is available for cornhole in gator nation?

    @EvilSamPittman Because part of staying on top is beating your rivals in recruiting and being aware of how they are playing the NIL game -- this is a whole new world. Lots of Georgia fans I know don't think UGA is threatened -- but people inside of UGA say that's a problem, because other schools are opening the checkbooks to do whatever it will take. UGA boosters did that to help the Dawgs built necessary facilities and give Kirby money to pay staff. Now, it's about who is gonna figure out how to build the wheel in the NIL game.

    I have to admit that I don't like the NIL deal. Reminds me of MLB and how some teams able to spend way more than others. You will have on rare occasions the underdog/underbankrolled team winning the WS but it will be the exception. LA, NY, Houston,Philly, and a couple of more and then all the rest of the wanabees.

    Braves are fortunate right now to have locked up a lot of young talent at bargain prices, we'll see how that plays out in the years ahead.

    NIL is merely another head of the Hydra that college football has become...And in the interest of winning and staying on top, we all keep feeding this thing. This will get worse until CFB eats itself or simply flames out...doesn't matter which...similar result.

    Mike, it's called, "keep your friends close, but, your enemies closer", LOL....you've gotta know how they operate and think, in order to beat em.

    I wouldn't be a bit surprised to find out, Steve Spurrier helped him draft this letter. Spurrier is the Gator's most dangerous Ace-in-the-Hole, with his massive network of connections with Gator Alumni, with checkbooks.

    At least, we've still got the Dooley's and Herschel Walker is about to become a US Senator. Our network is emerge, too. Let the competition begin!!! LOL
