All due respect to Rutgers and Syracuse, but the number one market, New York, has close to zero interest in college football. Los Angeles is only slightly better.

I don’t understand how the TV deals affect NIL. That TV money goes to the conferences and their members. Unless I am wrong, schools are not allowed to make payments directly to players.

I also don’t understand why TV execs would pay exorbitant fees for broadcast rights for the number one and two markets regardless of conference if the ratings for UCLA vs. Rutgers and USC vs Minnesota will be no better than UCLA vs. Oregon State and USC vs. Arizona State.

The B1G getting USC and UCLA sounds sexy but it’s really just lipstick on a couple of pigs. In 2021, the Rose Bowl was less than half filled for UCLA vs. USC, supposedly a huge rivalry game. That won’t change just because the schools change conferences.
