Kirby Smart admits Georgia defensive drop-off up front, veteran Oregon line looms
ATHENS — Kirby Smart turned his focus to Georgia’s opening game, and the matchup between the Oregon offensive line and UGA’s reloaded defensive line has his attention.

It takes time to get the experience on the D line. I hope those freshmen are ready for some snaps.
Dawgs
These are quality guys that lack experience, they will get there. They are well coached and they are hungry, they want to prove they can continue the trench warfare that Walker, Davis, and Wyatt brought day in, day out. They will get there. Monken will have the offense ready to take up any temporary slack and the dawgs will be crusin by mid season. GO DAWGS!
Georgia has a strong O line, and the D line are practicing against them. The Duck O-line will be a good challenge for the Dawg D. I'm confident we will come out on top and the D line will gain some valuable experience from that.
This is only half an article. One DE position was left out. TID looks to be able to pick up where Travon Walker left off last year, assignment and maybe even production wise. Don't forget spot snaps from Mykel Williams. His quickness and athleticism coming in a passing downs will give the OR OL fits. Throw in Big Bill Norton and UGA can roll in 8 talented guys that can stay fresh and attack.
Lots of keys to the game. The 2 biggest will be OR OL vs UGA DL/LBs and is Bo Nix who we thought he was.
The experience on the DL is low but not that low. After all it they are practicing against our elite OL which is better than Oregon's OL. They are getting better, stronger and confident and will be ready to hunt some ducks. For sure Muschamp, Schumann, Scott, and the rest of the defensive staff will have them already to go by game time. Let's hunt some ducks. Go Dawgz, Sic'em.😎
I believe this year's OL is going to be better than last year's!
Kirby is never satisfied, so of course he's going to say there's a "drop off".
I read that Saban was uncharacteristically optimistic the other day...is that rat poison reverse psychology?
The Dawgs better be "cruisin'"next Saturday. Lanning knows well what he has in that mature O line...and he knows pretty well what UGA offers defensively. Toughness will be a major component of this contest...Kirby's strength. The Dawgs have resolve and toughness. Well coached. Coach Monken will be on his game against Oregon. Stetson will run their DB legs off. These Dawgs are talented.
I think these young defensive linemen have been playing against a pretty good offensive line on a daily basis. Just say'n.
They're a Daisey, if they do.
If we have no additional injuries, Dawgs should win by two touchdowns against the Ducks. Their O-Line is experienced but remember they're learning an entirely new offense, with a brand new QB. They may think and hope he's good, but they really don't KNOW what's going to happen until he's under fire, so their confidence level won't be there. Again, injuries can change anything, but this won't be Georgia's toughest test of the season. Go Dawgs!
Hey, the Ducks are their huckleberry……!
