Ladd McConkey struggles, second-half bounce back sums up ‘****’ win for Georgia football
ATHENS — Ladd McConkey was not the sole reason Georgia found itself in a 32-22 game in the fourth quarter. He was not the only Bulldog who didn’t play up to the Georgia standard on Saturday.

McConkey has been one of my favorite "go to" guys on the team and it was hard to watch him struggle today. I liked his passion when he made mistakes, you could tell he was not happy with himself and that will result in hard work this week, a greater focus and hell to pay for his opponents next week. I look for him to rebound and continue to show he is one of the better offensive players in the SEC. GO DAWGS!
Had a tough day but he remains one of the most consistent receivers on the team. Great to hear all were picking him up because he will definitely be needed. Better days ahead for Ladd and he will continue to deliver the solid results he has all along. It would help if some of the other receivers, not TEs, stepped up a bit and took some of the load off at least until AD returns.
Tough day for Lad but a clear deviation from the mean. He has to put it behind him and move along. Good learning win.
This was somewhat of a "strange game" in that it was tough to really get a feel of what happened. I would argue that we played much better compared to Samford and that the Kent State team that played us would've destroyed them. That being said, you kinda just shrug your shoulders and move on.
Yes, that muffed punt was pretty bad, but it only cost us 3 points. Many of Bennett's throws were on target but dropped while some others were not where they should've been (there was that one weird overthrow on 3rd down). Some great catches and then some bad drops. Some good runs and then some pretty bad runs for losses. The fans showed up in force, but then went silent and kinda disappeared. We would do great at stopping them, but then they'd just "chip away" with more 1st downs than they should've been able to get. At the same time, they only went 3-11 on 3rd downs. It didn't feel like we were ready and organized, but only 2 penalties on our side. We got 3 sacks but didn't feel like we could stop them at other points.
I think this will just be a truly "forgettable" game that will be a good thing and hopefully we'll be able to "tighten things up" now for the meat of our schedule.
Missouri, Auburn and Vanderbilt teams that will struggle to reach 6-6 and then a bye is no "meat of the schedule." So UGA has plenty of time to get healthy and in an offensive rhythm. I am more concerned with the pedestrian stats through 4 games for a bunch of guys who will (or want to) enter the draft after the season.
Love the dawgs but not impressed with any phase of our game beside FG/EP aspect. Poor poor poor tackling, nutty mistakes, and a WIN. Thank you for that. Please show me a better team on the next outing
It’s clearly on Kirby . Damnit coach 3 times the Kid put stress on the defense. Earn your keep!
You could add Lassiter to the list, every team is picking on him. He plays soft coverage, doesn't tackle well and really does not like to hit.
Agree, mndawg. What's up with Lassiter? Took a couple of the worst angles ... Nolan Smith is out there taking on 2 blockers on the perimeter and Lassiter (and Smith too, I think), come barreling in on the inside, letting their #81 run wild after the catch.
Just my opinion but possibly play like todays is a result of several easy games back to back. We are fortunate it happened with Kent State and not like last years SECC . Teaching lesson for CKS. and time to get the young men refocused.
Good thing it was Kent State, who got beat down by Oklahama 33-3. Otherwise even Vandy would have taken us to the limit. UT and UF both looked tougher on the O-line than UGA. We cannot even run the ball well enough to assist the passing game. We have no WR who can separate himself from a defender on a deep pass. This season is a LONG way from being a waltz to the CFP...
He had a bad beginning no sugar coating it but proud of the coaches sticking with him and he had a HUGE reception at n a not ao great pass. He will bounce back, learn from this game and be a better player.
