Georgia overcomes Mississippi State, another impressive step on climb to SEC Championship Game
The majority of faces, names and numbers changed, but the standard has not.

The defense is the most consistent element of this team when it was supposed to be the shakiest. It has been the offense that has lacked consistency and created opportunities for opponents to climb back into games. That has been the shock and hopefully they will help the defense out with fewer mistakes and wasted series. Still feel a little crazy complaining with the average points per game and offensive numbers but if they could lock it in, this team would truly be a juggernaut.
I don't know whether it's the play calling or the player execution of the plays that are called. But some of these plays are bone headed to me. 3rd and 4 and you running the ball!!!!!! Haven't had a decent run game all game. Giving Carson Beck some quality playing time will be critical to him being your starter next year but yet going into the 4th quarter with a big lead he is on the bench. How will you justify Bennett getting hurt during garbage time. You don't!!!!
Horrible coaching right before the half.
--Senior transfer Jayden Daniels has proven an elusive and efficient quarterback for the Tigers, though he doesn’t have the sort of arm talent to be a great threat to Georgia.--
--But there’s no reason to believe Georgia won’t roll over both opponents provided it doesn’t shoot itself in the foot.---
Mike, why do you feel it necessary to plant a little rat poison, for the next few games?
"No coach has ever lost 15 players in one NFL Draft, much less in an era where rules enabled 13 capable transfers like Georgia also lost.
And yet, these Bulldogs look like the best team in the nation when they are playing their best football."
Kirby Smart deserves National Coach of The Year. Some teams say "it's a rebuilding year" after they fail to meet their goals.
No other program could lose 15 to the NFL and 13 (many of which are starting for other teams) and still maintain their position at the top of college football. Kirby rebuilds as he goes along. No need for excuses. When you develop players at an elite pace, you don't have any need for excuses.
Nothing elite about special teams this year. Twice they're been fooled on fake punts. And the coverage on that punt return was embarrassingly bad. Then there's the clock management the last two games. Hopeful, but skeptical the Dogs are the best team in the land.
"and a questionable roughing the punter in the fourth quarter."..........Being of Greek descent and acknowledging the fact that Greeks invented the theatrical portrayal of life, I would like to award George Georgopoulos, MSU punter, and fellow Greek, The Football Academy Award for most convincing theatrical performance of being "roughed"....his performance brought tears of injustice to the Back Judges eyes. Rather than showers of roses for his stellar performance, yellow laundry fell from the sky. The performance was so convincing that even Jackson Meeks, the DGD that played the part of evil aggressor, went to the side lines in despair claiming "It's on me, My bad Boys"! In the meantime Todd, Sean and Molly, the ESPN game callers were befuddled trying to find replay proof of the most egregious act ! Every video angle showed a performance by Mr. Georgopoulos that most worthy of this esteemed award and his Greek heritage!
You're skeptical that the Dawgs are the best team in the land meaning we should maybe not be ranked #1 by the committee and/or in the polls?
Perhaps you mean the Dawgs could possibly lose to another team because the Dawgs are imperfect? Name me, please, a team which is not imperfect. Name a team which was looked consistently and continuously more perfect than the Dawgs!
Do you really think it matters when we make a few mistakes and still double the score the other team puts up? Certainly it gives us something to work on and improve upon, but that's the thing. We do work towards improvement. That process never stops or slows down. We won't ever be perfect.
A perfect score in golf is what? Eighteen? We're shooting 6 under par sometimes, and 1 under other times, but always beating the other guy by 2 or 3 strokes or more. Why worry about a double boogie on #12?
I don't care how we're ranked this week or any week other than how our ranking impacts our seeding in the playoffs assuming we make the playoffs. We want to play in Atlanta rather than a long plane ride away from home.
Making terrible mistakes gives us the opportunity to fix them. Making them when they don't matter to the outcome of the game is ideal. That is not saying we are not a work in progress because we are, but we're still the best team in the land.
Mississippi State looked like a good, tough, physical, well coached, determined, feisty bunch. Agreed? If so, what was the score?
Go, Dawgs!
Well said Jim!
