Monken won't have the talent gap in the NFL. Entitled players and a level talent level field are why it's so hard to win. At UGA, he has kids with the talent and the mindset. That leads to wins.

Not only will CKS make the right hire when and if that time comes, he will more than likely have the “pick of the litter” of the best offensive minds in the country, whether it be existing coordinators looking to move into a high profile proven program or up and comers ready to move into a coordinator position. My guess is Kirby would hire a proven coordinator but I trust our coach is going to make the best, well thought out decision. Personally, I can only hope and wish that CTM would finish his career here at UGA. Go Dawgs!

Agreed. I have two concerns with CTM leaving: First, the players would probably have to learn a new system and Secondly, It might negatively affect recruiting.

The only thing that makes sense, if Monken is truly happy, is he is positioning himself for a big raise. If he were planning to retire in two years, why move? KS did similar when he interviewed for DC at uga (and we got Grantham, instead). He had no intention of taking the job, but did manage to get a new contract and a big raise from Saban.

I'm thinking that last foray in Cleveland looms large as compared to the last two years.....owners, owners family, managers, players, players wife's not to mention fans, all telling you on a daily basis how to do your job....especially when your team loses. At UGA, Monken shares TOP DAWG billing with Kirby doing exactly what he loves, winning....and without the stress and headaches. Monken to Baltimore....undisciplined penalty prone offense, no defense, what's up with Lamar???? Monken to Tampa Bay.....Prima Donna petulant GOAT QB.....does he go or does he stay......either place, for a man who thrives on WINNING......."Fa-get-about-it".

Connor, Monken stays.....he is his most challenging competition.....with the QB talent plus overall talent for 2023, Todd Monken stands to decimate all of his previous benchmarks. GO DAWGS.....3N23!

Agree. Your spot on in your comments. Monken has an opportunity, and it’s a Realistic opportunity to take these Dawgs to the Extremely Rare feat of a 3peat. So if he embraces challenges, and by his own words it’s not about the $$. I just don’t get him wanting to leave. To Me. ( course I’m not an NFL fan) a college level 3peat trumps a one time Super Bowl. I mean if he could help pilot the Dawgs to do that, we’re talking about a feat accomplished once every 100+ years !! Where as Super Bowls happen every year. Unless he believes he can help an NFL team win B2B Super Bowls ?? I don’t get it. But I’ll always appreciate what he’s done for UGA. If he leaves I wish him the best. But maybe he’s not leaving and all this will turn out to be much ado nothing. Only he, his family and very close friends know.

At this point I would think Monk is all about tradition, relationships, job satisfaction, & winning. He’s been the OC now at all levels. I truly believe he will only leave for the right HC position whether it be college or the NFL most likely after the 2023 season & the 3-peat!! Go Dawgs!!

Joe Brady came into LSU from the Saints as QB coach with alot of talent to work with and helped Emsminger take their prehistoric offense into the spread formation and boom it made BUrrow into a household name, and LSU a NC with the most prolific offense in the nation.

Emsminger retires and BRady vaults for the NFL again to the PAnthers as OC, the panthers OC and QB coach go to LSU and LSU goes from #1 in the nation to number # 46 in offense under the new regime the following year. They tried running Brady's concepts and it just didn't work. You could say well they lost a ton of talent. yes, but LSU has always had good to great talent. No doubt if the new regime had Burrow and CHase then they certainly wouldn't have finished 46 in offense the next year, but would they have won another NC with a new OC and passing game specialist(Brady's title)? Who knows.

My point is coaches matter. James Coley was a bad hire. Monken was a good one. Alabama had the best QB in the nation the last 2 years and couldn't win the NAtty. Now their OC is gone. Monken helped turn a former walk on who the UGA coaches didn't believe could start into a 2 time NC winner.

Monken needs to think carefully about an NFL return. Just look at Dallas firing their OC after just 2 seasons. Joe Brady(the supposed guru) was out as OC in just 1 season with Carolina.

Coach Monken will leave at some point that's a given. But I personally hope it's when he finally decides it's time to retire. He and Kirby have a chance to build a dynasty the likes of which college football has never seen.

Personally, if Monken is to go someplace, I wouldn't think either of the options mentioned in the article are that great right now. Both of them have their starting QB up in the air. There are a lot of rumors of Lamar Jackson pushing for a trade from the Ravens, and Tom Brady is either close to retirement or about to drop off significantly in production due to simple aging. If it were me, I wouldn't be interested in stepping into a position that had question marks at QB. I'd interview, but tell both of them that I wouldn't be willing to commit until the QB situation were resolved.

I hope that he doesn't leave UGA, but I wouldn't put money on it. I don't think that he's the least bit caught up in the whole "we have a chance to 3-peat" talk, nor do I think he's all that concerned about life in the NFL. He's already been an NFL coordinator so, he is well aware of what that all entails. The fact that he's interviewing with NFL teams means that he's interested and that he could very well find a mutually agreeable suitor there. So, I hope he doesn't leave and I'd even be willing to overpay to keep him because, while I definitely trust Kirby, we KNOW what we have in Monken. Go Dawgs!

CTM has given the Dawg Nation a lot of things to cheer for the last three years if he decides to go to another job. here a few things:

    1 Peach Bowl win

    1 Orange Bowl win

    1 Sugar Bowl win

    2 National Championships

I hope he stays like most of Dawg Nation, but I will be first to congratulate him if he takes another job! DGD and he GATA!

    38 - 3 record as an OC

I know coach has to do what's best for he and his family, but I'd sure hate to see him go. We've all been blessed these past 3 years to have him, and there is no telling how many more truly special seasons we can have with him in Athens. We've got something great going, and I'd hate to lose a part of what's helped us get here. Stick around coach!

    GO DAWGS!

Everything he says - from the money isn’t important, to the grass isn’t always greener, to winning is everything, to you do the best you can and play it out where you end up…is all in place at UGA. Including the two years left on his contract that needs to be “played out”.

Yet he’s interviewing for NFL jobs.
