Is Dawgnation actually going to talk about about Kearis Jackson's 4.55 time in the 40 yesterday, and what that means for his draft status considering that he had 21 catches for 320 yards and 0 TDs in 15 games last year? (By comparison, Jaxon Smith-Njiba had 15 catches for 347 yards and 3 TDs in a single game. And it was the Rose Bowl against Utah, not a cupcake.)

Not just the Dawgnation writers. I want to see the thoughts of all the commenters that trash WRs for transferring because they know that they aren't going to wow the scouts with their natural ability like Darnell Washington is doing now and that they are going to need to have competitive stats. Any comments from those guys? Or is everyone content with just pretending that Jackson doesn't exist?

Keep in mind: I am not bashing Jackson at all. He made the decision to remain in a system that pretty much only used the WRs as decoys because it was the best for him. Instead, this is towards all the commenters who bash the WRs who do the same - make the best decisions for them by choosing better stats to position themselves for the NFL over college championships that they know the NFL could care less about - and Dawgnation for knowingly fanning the flames.

For not bashing on him at all your doing a great job. There’s only so many guys to throw the ball to. Dawgs got three pretty good WRs out of HS. And two more transferred to UGA. Those two that transferred to the Dawgs had the best numbers at their respective schools which was Miss St. and Vandy. So it sounds like you are Implying that All Five of these receivers made a dumb decision by coming to UGA. Jackson has ( like everybody) an opportunity to increase his stock at the NFL combine. I just flat out don’t get you Lol !! In one comment you will compliment the program then come right back and bash on it. On another you’ll come back and compliment and individual player, then come back and bash on another. ALL college football programs have their positives and negatives. All I Know is the Dawgs just won B2B Crowns and are in a very good position to win another. If you have watched the NFL Combine over all So Far the Dawgs have done Very well. NO program is perfect, or ever Has been, or Ever Will be. If your saying K. Jackson made a mistake by coming back to UGA for one more year. Two words apply. Risk and Loyalty. There’s a certain amount of risk No Matter how much consideration is made Before taking action in Anything and Everything we do. College football no different. Loyalty is in my opinion a great quality. Yeah it’s Possible he could have transferred to another school and got more playing time, possible but certainly Not Guaranteed. One of the principal ( and Very successful thus far) components that Kirby has built into the Dawgs program is the We Are Family concept. There’s No data or stat that fits that component. But it’s Extremely Important to players and their families. Look at Arik Gilbert, Kirby and UGA took Very, Very, good care of that young man. Dwan Mathis is another example. In Both cases unfortunately, things didn’t work out and in both cases They decided to seek greener pastures. Neither were kicked off the team. Being like a Family is a Very Serious concept at UGA. Will the Dawgs get every single 5 star player that comes down the pipe ? No of course not. But they have and Do get enough to make the playoffs and win the last two Ntl. Championships and hot on the trail for 2023. As long as Kirby is there the Dawgs Will be in the conversation for 2024, 2025, and beyond as well. Lastly just like the announcers pointed out earlier a RB drafted in the Seventh Round last year scored a TD in the Super Bowl !! Your dreams are Only Limited By Yourself !! Go Dawgs !!

Nobody bashed anybody in the UGA WR Group,, as far as I can tell.

There were a few chuckles and head shakes, when Burton transferred, because it made absolutely NO sense. But, that's on him...it was his decision. Is he turning pro this year? If he had stayed at UGA...it's very likely, he would've been drafted in the first 3 or 4 rounds. As it stands, nobody remembers his name, except Dawg or Tide fans. Lol

The other guys that left over the last few years...just didn't have what it takes to break away from the competition in the WR Room. They were big names...only to Dawg fans...not, necessarily the College Football world.

Yeah, some WR's and DBs have transferred. But, that's expected. As stated, many, many times...UGA is not for everybody. At UGA, the player exists for the team...not, the other way around.

If a guy is worried about collecting Stats and not Rings...there are 130 other schools, that would be glad to have him. The Dawgs will NEVER focus their offense on a single position or position group. Seems to work for them.

So, what's the complaint? Jackson will make a good, reliable receiver at the next level. A "great set of hands" and "route running" are his strengths. Speed is only about ⅓ of a WR's prerequisites and a 4.55 is a respectable time.

It's obvious, that you want the Dawgs to have a "track meet offense", with high flying receivers and a gunslinger at QB...but, that's not who they are. In fact, they've NEVER been "that team". And...that suits me just fine.

With a "track meet offense"...all it takes is for 1 or 2 guys to go down to injury...and there goes your season. That's why the NFL has been gradually evolving away from it. It's not a reliable or sustainable formula for success.

The thing that stands out...is that most NFL Teams know how to weigh Stats and apply all the nuances. It doesn't matter how many plays he played or yds, TDs, Completions, etc.. What matters is...what did he do when he DID play. Can he run a crisp route...does he have good hands...is he a prospective punt/kick returner...can he block.

With the Dawgs on the biggest stage in College Sports, for the last 2 yrs...every player on their team, regardless of position or playing time...is getting a good look from all of the NFL Scouts. That's all a kid can ask for.

And...Kirby and Co. do their part, in preparing each and every player, for "the Next Level". All that's left, is for the player to do his part and put in the time and work to ensure their own success.

UGA WRs, that have reached their ceiling and can't push the envelope any further...either leave for more "playing time" with a less talented team...or, accept their fate and contribute to UGA's success in any way they can. The ones that stay, tend to get more NFL attention than the ones that leave.

FYI...Lovett came from Mizzou. And, he's impressive. I loved watching him play, last year. Dawg gone good receiver. Lol

Oh and @thadec you do realize that if it bothers you That bad you don’t have to click on the button to bring you here. We are Dawgs fans. The word fans is a derivative of the word Fanatic. I doubt Very, Very seriously that any of the fans that come here own a NFL team Or hold a prominent position with a NFL team. Also though there are probably quite a few fans that are dual fans of Both the Dawgs and some NFL team. I’m pretty confident that the vast majority of Dawgs fans who come here first loyalty are in fact with UGA and the Dawgs. And you Do understand the concept of rivalries Dont you ?? Do you Honestly think that Dawgs fans are going to come here and go over board bashing on the team they are Loyal to and Financially support, while at the same time going over board complimenting a rival team ?? And plenty of fans that come here do so Purely to enjoy All Things Dawgs, not to analyze the program through an NFL lens in terms of how will the program relate to the NFL. And though as You Said the NFL could care less about College Ntl. Titles, we Dawgs fans DO care about College Ntl. Titles. Last year the Dawgs had Fifteen players go in the draft alone, Which if memory serves set a New Record for players from the same school. And I don’t know how many but even more were taken in free agency. And it’s looking like though there might not be that many this year, it’s looking pretty good for the Dawgs that quite a few Will go in the draft, in particular the first couple of rounds. So not sure what you are fishing for when you come to DAWGNation. Maybe you can go to the Bama board and the fans will fall over themselves to Bash on The Tide while going full steam to Brag on UGA ?? But I wouldn’t look forward to seeing that if I were you !! 😀

You are Absolutely correct !! My Bad !! He did come from Mizzou. At least I got the M part right Lol !! Hey that’s pretty good for a senior ole Dawg like me !! 😂

Bravo !! And track meet Offense could be used when talking about the West Coast. And since the USC glory days how long has it been since the West Coast teams were winning Nattys on a Consistent basis ?? That’s right !! About as bad as before UGA got Kirby !! Kirby and his Dawgs are on a trajectory to Meet and probably eventually Exceed what Saban has done at Bama. Let’s face it my Bro. there are Allot of folks outside the Dawgs fanbase that utterly Despise the very idea of Kirby achieving that !! 😂
