Georgia players want ‘best of the best’ on new schedule model
ATHENS — If Georgia football were to play the same three SEC teams each season, which ones should it be?
Comments
Florida for all the players out of FL Auburn because they are Auburn Alabama so we don't have to wait and hope they make the playoffs to beat them down
If you're not going to strictly play rivals in the set-3 games, what's the point. Florida, Tennessee, and Auburn are UGA's conference rivals. As I've said before, rather than Oklahoma and Texas, we should've added FSU, GA Tech (traded with ACC for Vandy), and Clemson to the SEC. This keeps the regionalism as a delineating and interesting factor (I mean, there isn't anything else to distinguish CFB from anything else) and gives more rivalry options to more SEC teams.
Florida, Auburn, and Tennessee. Just for proximity. And do away with the annual trip to Jacksonville. Or at least make it every 3rd year. If they wanna keep a game in Jacksonville, let Florida play someone else there. I'd even go so far to say make the 9th SEC game a neutral site game, since pretty much all of this is about money anyways. More money made at neutral site games. At least one neutral site game in the SEC per season. And not Texas vs Oklahoma/UGA vs UF every year, as the one neutral game.
I love Broderick Jones, but Mizzou? C'mon Dawg! One of the real lowlights on the schedule every year at present. I'd take the Florida, Auburn, Tennessee group. Seems like Cackalacky could be a good alternative to Tennessee. We recruit the best players out of their state most years and the chickens think we're a rivalry. Easy road game drive every other year.
Go Dawgs!
From what I have read it sounds like the 3-teams will change every 4 years or so. In other words, don't worry who you get paired with, because it won't be forever.
Lol...nicely done!!! 'Nuff said.
I don't really care which teams get locked-in. UGA will be playing the best-of-the-best after every regular season. I'd just as soon, not see them beat-the-hell-up in December, after playing UT, UF, AUB, BAMA, OU, & LSU...all, in the same season. Which, theoretically, could happen...especially if the Dawgs are already playing 3 of them every season.
Lol...I bet there's a lottery to see which team gets to claim Vandy & Tex A&M as their perennial opponents. Vandy is the Grand Prize...and A&M is the consolation prize.
That negates the purpose of having "permanent rivals". If they aren't playing "every year"...then. no rivalry....such as Ga vs FL in the Gator Bowl.
UGA vs Tennessee for sure over Kentucky.
