dang. I’m a big proponent of kids will make mistakes but when you down learn from the death of a teammate…. What does that mean? Kirby may have to start taking PT or kicking kids off the team for these infractions.
I don't understand why these kids keep getting in trouble. I feel like we are back in the RIcht days.
I have a feeling that he may be the example needed to get the attention of the players. It would not surprise me to see him removed from the roster.
Totally with you on this one. One could argue that some of these earlier infractions were before these issues were widespread and/or new-to-the-team, but not now. Further, to my recollection this is the first driving under the influence of drugs (excluding alcohol... no better, admittedly), of which I'm aware, in a long time... maybe ever?
My "Spidey sense" says De'Nylon is ripe for "making an example"... I'd be hard-pressed to disagree 😡
It all goes back, to keeping kids out of school for a year or 2 during the big "Cold" Pandemic. Our society is imitating it's art-form. We truly have an "Idiocracy", now. And, the kids will be paying the price for some of the "dumbass" decisions our so-called leaders made during that time frame...in the name of "politics"...not, public health.
Oh well...UGA always weeds a few out, after Spring. Some guys can't take the pressure. That's not a knock on them. The pressure is maximum in Athens. They can go to another program...and it would be like a vacation compared to what Kirby puts em through.
It's not "over" for Morrissette...he's still young and is in the best place possible, to clean it up. He may make us proud someday.
Go Dawgs!!!
A DUI at 10 AM!?! That was some party, if is still drunk at !0 AM. Kirby will probably sacrifice him to show he's serious.
Much too bad! The leadership, Captains, need to have an off the record team meeting or two. I have a lot of respect for Van Pran, Milton, Bowers and the other peer leaders and figure they could be assets in this type of need for providing 'guidance ' Drive home some points..
It's a shame for Smart to have to gain more depth to cover for mistakes of some irresponsibles.
I was thinking the same thing....especially, with drugs being involved.
I know some of y'all ain't gonna like what you're about to read, but I'm going to say it any way, because it's the d*mn truth.
Some of y'all keep referring to these guys as kids, and yes, they may be young, but they're old enough to know better. They know right from wrong. There is absolutely no excuse for what he did. Driving while under the influence is incredibly stoopid, and a blink of an eye away from becoming another senseless tragedy, either for themselves, or others. Thank, God, no one got hurt or killed. But what about the next time? Or the time after that?
I'm not telling Kirby how to handle the situation, but if I were his coach, I would certainly try and get him the help he needed, even if this was his first time. I would do all I could to help this young man, if he wanted it. But he's got to want the help. With that being said, he would no longer be a part of my football team. A person that will do something so incredibly stoopid like this must not value their football scholarship very much. I'm certainly not hating on this young man, not at all, but he has to learn that what he did has severe consequences here at UGA.
OK with ALL the terrible things that have happened with bad driving related things, All you can do is preach it to them.
BUT if a person is just bound and determined to shut the good advice out, shut the warnings out, and if people Dying, is not enough. What then ?? You can’t fix **** !!
So when All these things have happened, and so recently, and some guy there Still wants to be an idiot behind the wheel !! Little compassion here !!
YES and YES, I did plenty and plenty of totally **** things in My youth to. BUT I paid my own way out and No compassion for me.
My ole Daddy ( God rest his soul) told me countless times “ Son you get in trouble and get your azz locked up, don’t waste your dime calling me ( yes a phone call was a dime on a pay phone back then), cause I’m Not coming to get you out !!
I really hate to see these guys pull **** stunts like this, but I feel very confident that Kirby and staff have preached, and preached and preached to them !!
So really there’s not much left that a university staff can do. Although very young, these guys are grown men with responsibilities. So **** it up buttercup, you make the Choice to pull a bone headed **** decision, We’ll then YOU pay for it. And don’t expect people to flood the dam with tears for you when you do !!
That’s life. You live by the decisions YOU chose to make. I made some utterly bad and **** ones, but I paid for them and didn’t expect or ask anyone to cry for me !!
Well said! And my dad told me the same thing, and I am happy to say it worked! And for the life of me, I don't understand why they censor the word st0pid on this site, yet it's totally okay to type certain cuss words! 🤣 😂
Reading through the comments it's all been said. I trust CKS will do the right thing for the "player", note I didn't call him a kid, he's a young man, the team, and the university. Sad that this stuff keeps happening, it's so engrained in society, good luck to the young man....
My dad said the same thing..you got yourself into it, you get yourself out of it.. And not once did I call him when I was younger, less wiser and ended up in trouble 😆
Drunk on Monday morning??? Kid that kid some help!
If the only derogatory news coming out of the program are traffic related arrests, they're doing something pretty good over there. Like, other schools are having players arrested for child p*rn (UF), trafficking drugs (Alabama), r*pe and violent assault (Iowa State), illegal weapons (LSU), murder (McMurry U), etc.
