So, I just want to gather thoughts around what coaches we think may not be around in 2-3 years and why? Here is my short list.

These coaches will be on the hot seat soon without some success

Jimbo Fisher - he needs to show that he can compete for the SEC West. That number 1 class from 2 years ago needs to show results this year. Leash - 2 years tops

Lane Kiffin - must win the egg bowl (should be easy as MSU will not have an offense) and finish at least 8-4 next 2 years. His schedule is pretty tough this year. He has the talent but must figure out his qb. When you are an 'offensive genius' qb should not be your weak point. Leash - 2 years tops.

Ryan Day - a 3rd loss to Michigan will really hurt. If somehow they go 10-2 and miss the playoffs the seat will get hot fast. If he makes the playoff after going 11-1 and loses the playoff first game the seat will get hot. Day has 2 years to both beat Michigan and win a playoff game. Leash - 2 years without a championship of some sort

Outlier actions that get a coach fired

Sarkisian - starts drinking again and the Longhorns do not win 10 games for next 3 years. Texas has a pretty easy schedule this year and should get 10 wins but if they continue to lose games they should win issues will start to surface. Leash - 5 years to win something, a playoff game or the Big 12 or make the SECCG (easy schedule in '24).  Texas fans are pretty easy going as long as you are winning around 9 to 10 games.

Freeze - does something outrageous AND doesn't have a10 game season in the next 3 years. This is very possible as Freeze is just that guy who seems stable and genius like and then does something completely off base. In a new competitive and difficult league it is possible he never hits the 10 game mark. The excuses will be tolerated for a couple years but by year 4 he will be gone. Leash - 3 years.

Venables - Oklahoma is not used to losing. Venables needs to make the playoff this year by winning the Big 12 because his '24 schedule is rough. Oklahoma not hitting doulbe digit wins the next 3 years will get Venables canned. Leash - 3 years
