Great article Bill. Yes, resilience was key yesterday, but I don't think it can carry us all the way to the playoffs and potential 3-peat. KY and Mizzou might be looking like the best teams in the SEC East right now, and we've got the play them both...soon. If we can get past those 2 teams then I'll feel much better about our chances of making the SEC Championship game.

Glad to have Bullard (led the team in tackles with 9 solos and 1 assist) and McConkey back. Both proved their worth yesterday. Need to get more guys back from injuries.

Beck did well for his first start on the road and 5th start overall. I just wish he was a little more mobile and a threat to run the ball.

The QB run adds another dimension to the offense. I believe BVG could be included in the game plan at times, we need to use all the weapons at our disposal. Is Sereals the answer as our OL coach, has Pittman talent taken us this far? Defense needs to find itself, in a hurry....

I was impressed by the poise shown by Beck in the second half and by our kicker Woodring kicking like we expect, especially with the pressure-filled second field goal. Our punter is outstanding and has been a strength that has helped in these early games. That said, Bowers is unbelievable and showed once again how he can carry the offense and can be unstoppable (although they slowed him in the first half with tight coverage).

Our run defense was poor, but mainly against their QBs. Their running backs, who are very good, were not close to having big days. That said, we're about to find out how good (or not) our run defense really is on Saturday against Kentucky.

I really think we should not try to play smash mouth (their strength is physical play) on offense against Kentucky and should really open up the offense. Beck is more than due to finally hit some of those deep passes. We should put the pressure on their secondary and then go to the run later. Who would have thought this would be such a big game before the season started, against a 5-0 UK? And a night game at that. We're finally getting our fair share of those!
