AP Poll Top 25 rankings for Week 6: Georgia football No. 1, to face No. 20 Kentucky
Georgia still continues to find ways to win but with each week the Bulldogs look less and less like the team that won the last two national championships.

#1 ranking slowly eroding, as it should the way UGA is performing. Miraculous last UGA offensive play finds...who else...Brock Bowers over the middle...open! Beck plays a rehearsed carpe diem, and the die is cast. UGA pulls off another close one. A couple of turnovers less and that margin of victory would have been significantly larger...IMO. Can anyone predict KY outcome?
Not that polls matter at this point, but this is ludicrous. Dawgs haven't begun to play like the #1 team in the country. Texas beat #11 Bama and previously ranked Kansas. They must feel cheated. Michigan can't feel much better, and they are definitely playing better football than the Dawgs.
Parody? Must ,have been a typo, although ironically it could describe this season.
This team is absolutely flirting with disaster the way there doesn't seem to be any sort of urgency in the way they play each first half. It is as if they just think the game will be handed to them; then, at the half, they wake up and make some explosives and finally win the game. I trust Kirby and the staff are doing everything humanly possible to wake up the team before each game, but it just looks like they are collectively in some sort of slumber during the 1st quarters. In yesterday's game, some bone-headed plays, Beck staring down his receivers every play (how has he escaped massive interceptions??), the o-line is awful. No push for run game and the opposing teams are in the backfield. Where are the sacks? Where are the havoc plays? Why has Beck been accused of having an NFL arm, yet only succeeds for the most part, with short to medium passes? Why can't our touted WRs get better separation? So many questions...at least our field goal kicker has discovered his leg. The punter is on point. The kickoff guy kicked 2 short yesterday that were almost run back for scores. It's a hot mess - and it better get better. Kentucky is on a roll with their running game and that is a major issue for Georgia. After watching Auburn's 2nd best running QB run all over the dawgs yesterday, I'm not sure we can stop the runner behind a good offensive line. Time will tell. Anyway, hopefully the two SEC games so far will be a wake up call to the dawgs to kick things into gear and take their rightful position as the elite team we all want them to be. GO DAWGS!
‘Parity’ between teams at any given position is reality in the top 10 today. Although there are a lot of new, inexperienced kids on this new team making many fundamental judgement errors, they are all gifted athletes that will get better with confidence as they learn, grow in their positions, get stronger and bulk up. Difference is we still have an elite coaching staff that has seen it all before, and help them make the adjustments. So far, they’ve already seen that winning is also patience when being run-over and behind early.
Texas deserves the #1 ranking right now, and they could pad their resume further if they beat OK this Saturday.
The Longhorns’ five FBS opponents are a combined 17-8. They have won every game decisively by double digits. That’s a far better strength of schedule than Georgia (7-13), Michigan (13-12) and Florida State (9-11).
Dawgs will have to show their true colors and put up or shut up for the remainder of the schedule since our opponents are all getting better (except FL) with several ranked now (Ole Miss, TN, KY, and Mizzou).
Georgia finally has the respect they deserve and most of you keep talking about how they don't deserve to be #1. Voters are saying they are #1 till somebody beats them! Simple as that! Try to enjoy your team's success! BTW, 'parity' not 'parody'!
Actually reminds me of the bama rankings a few years ago where Alabama wasn’t playing to their “potential” and many couch fans were complaining. Then boom- they won a Natty- again.
this time it’s the dawgs who are on top. One game at a time.
Sure, we all can predict the score. Last year it was a low scoring 10 point win. This year the game is in Athens and the dawgs will win by 6. But a lot more scoring. 41-35 dawgs. After a 20-17 first half with KY up.
of course my guess is based on previous history. I could also see the dawgs at home win 35-10 if they could play 4 qtrs.
I agree that there seems to be a sentiment among the voters that Georgia will get the benefit of the doubt until someone knocks them off. Sure, they’re not receiving as many No. 1 votes now, and that’s only fair. Texas has certainly been more impressive so far. And *an* Ohio state university also had a really impressive win at Notre Dame, and they deserve to be in the conversation. Unfortunately, with the way Georgia is playing it just feels like it’s a matter of time before they lose. I hate to think that way, but it’s hard not to given the lack of dominance at this point. I would be surprised though if they let KY come into Athens next weekend and out-Georgia Georgia. That would be some s***.
@Brooksie
Most of the moaning and groaning here isn't honest criticism. It is agenda-driven stuff from people who wanted Georgia to do something like hire the offensive coordinator that is currently at Clemson - who has losses to FSU and Duke - to run Monken's offense and who wanted the QB to be Brock Vandagriff or Gunner Stockton who will play like SB IV.
These folks just want UGA to keep doing what has worked the past 2 years and are angry that UGA has deviated from it. But if UGA were 5-0 with "insert well known spread guy raided from another winning program" at OC, Vandagriff or Stockton at QB and running plays that remind them of what UGA did in 2021 and 2022 when things were working - and not in those years when things weren't, plus this crowd ignores that 2020 with losing the SEC East and SB IV getting benched ever happened at all - then everyone would be fine. But because Bobo is the OC and because Beck - who reminds them of pro stylers Aaron Murray and Matt Stafford - is at QB they are thinking that things are just going to be a disappointment again just like 2002, 2003, 2007, 2008 and 2012. What these folks won't accept is that the difference wasn't so much Monken at OC and SB IV at QB but rather having 15 draft picks in 2022 and 10 draft picks in 2023. The truth is that take Monken and SB IV and give them Richt's talent level - and the much stronger SEC back then with Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee, Arkansas, Auburn and LSU being way better than they are now - and they accomplish even less than Murray, Stafford and Bobo did.
Did Richt produce a single starting NFL LT? Not even close. Richt's OTs, if they got drafted at all, usually wound up playing guard in the NFL. Well, SB IV played with Broderick Jones, Warren McClendon, Jamaree Salyer (even if he did have to move to RG in the NFL, he was a 6th round pick who started as a rookie on pass heavy playoff team and will almost certainly wind up at RT down the line) and Amarius Mims. And we don't even want to compare the 2007 and 2012 UGA defenses to the 2021 one.
