Georgia stock rising with upset-minded Missouri headed to Athens
ATHENS — Georgia played its most complete game of the season against Florida, unquestionably bringing some emotion to the annual “Cocktail Party” against the Gators.

Bryan McClendon's stock should be up. He is the WR coach and passing game coordinator. Look at the upheaval at the WR chart from last year to this year, plus McConkey being hurt most of the year.
Mike Bobo. In addition to being the OC, he is also the QB coach so he can take a ton of credit for Beck's development.
Mike Hartley. TE coach. Washington last year, Delp this year, Bowers the whole time. Enough said.
Dell McGee. Getting some of the best productivity from the UGA RB room in years despite all the injuries, including having to use a WR playing out of position (Dillon Bell) and a walk-on (Cash Jones).
Yes, UGA signs top classes, but most of the top 100 players are on defense with the OL getting most of the rest. UGA is getting a ton of production on offense from guys that weren't necessarily the most sought after in their classes. Example:
Daijun Edwards was rated 3 stars by 2 services and wasn't a top 100 player by the third.
Dillon Bell: consensus 3 star.
Ladd McConkey: same.
4 star Brock Bowers wasn't top 100 and was the #8 TE.
4 star Oscar Delp was a bit more highly regarded than Bowers but not top 100 either.
4 star Carson Beck wasn't top 250 nationally and was barely top 50 in Florida.
4 star Arian Smith: barely top 150.
Granted Rosemy-Jacksaint, Roderick Robinson and 5 star Kendall Milton were top 100 players. But UGA doesn't land as many blue chips at the offensive skill positions as does (say) USC, Texas, LSU, Alabama or Ohio State. Or at FSU, Florida, Miami, Tennessee and Oklahoma when those programs are rolling. UGA's offensive coaching staff is just doing an outstanding job of scouting and developing talent. You can also give them credit for not favoring the higher-rated guys for playing time. It is a real story that more folks should be talking about and calling attention to nationally but it just goes to show that even with all that UGA has accomplished they don't get enough credit.
Beck's costly mistakes? Which are you referring to, Mike?
Mike Hartley. TE coach. Washington last year, Delp this year, Bowers the whole time. Enough said. - thadec
TODD Hartley.
I believe he's referring to the several that CKS has also referred to over the season. Coach called them "bone-headed" when Stetson made them. Coach has changed his language a bit, here, but the idea is the same. There have been a few passes Beck has forced in bad situations that have led to turnovers. That's been established. I do believe that Mr. Griffith is just referring to them offhand at this point because it's been more-or-less established that they happened.
It's really weird to me that someone voted this down.
Lesson: people are weird sometimes.
Everything included here is right on the money, and a fair assessment. McClendon receiving credit on the receiver development? Check. Bobo receiving credit on Beck's development? Check. Hartley developing that dadgum stable of HAWSES we've got at TE? Check. The fact that this program is taking so many either bottom-half-starred, or not-starred-at-all-players and turning them into consistently-producing-at-their-respective-position champions? Check.
@osmosiphobe My getting Hartley's name wrong was worth a downvote.
The rating of HS football players based on developing skills and a forecast of CFB excellence is akin to NFL teams drafting players off Street and Smith's All American and All Conference teams back in the day. They are both superficial analysis and equally amateur approaches.
The point is, what some wannabe football dweeb thinks of a kid based on play at a few special events and HS football games against a wide variation of competition cannot be compared to the evaluations made by CKS and staff at camps and workouts conducted under their watchful eyes. There is no comparison. Needless to say CKS's player rankings would differ considerably from those at Rivals, On3, 247Sports, ESPN etc etc. Even those services cannot agree on players rankings. CKS has been around elite football players for a long time. He knows the goods when he sees it. Regardless of "rankings", Edwards, Bell, McConkey, Beck, AD, Stokes, JDavis, etc etc have the goods.
