- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

Dominique Wilkins Son

in Basketball
Committed to UGA. HUGE pick-up. That's 2 big-time recruits in the last two weeks for Mike White, who is quickly picking up steam on the recruiting trail!
He will also wear #21 just like his pops!
Go DAWGS!

I sure hope the fan base doesn't start out comparing him to his pops. That would be unfair.
Exactly. Imagine that kind of pressure.
Very cool. I will definitely tune in to see if he can ball like his daddy
There is only one 'Nique, but he is very good in his own right. Looking forward to the rise of UGA basketball!
Quick (hopefully) story about D. Wilkins at UGA.
I was a senior when Dominique was just starting at UGA....of course, the hype was huge even then (not like it would have been today, of course, but still huge!)
The first one or two games UGA played that season were away ..... finally, he was going to play his first home game at Stegeman. against Troy, I think. The coliseum was packed ....everybody wanted to see this kid that they had heard so much.
Sometime in the early minutes of the game (not much yet had happened), a UGA player hoisted a jump shot and it caromed straight up off the basket....
All of a sudden, an arm went up, fully extended above the rim, gathered in the ball one-handed and slammed it home !! And Dominique went running up the court, fist and arm pumping!!
Cannot begin to describe the roar from the Dawg faithful in attendance....None of us long-suffering UGA basketball fans had ever seen such athletic ability or fist-pumping energy before!
My God, a Freshman.... we all thought! Just incredible!
I don't even like basketball but the Human Highlight Film was definitely a must watch back in the day.
I suspect the current generation that argues Kobe vs LeBron as the goat have any idea Dominique's career at UGA 40+ years ago.
I was a freshman in 1982, the year after Dominique had turned pro early. Thought I would be disappointed not to watch him play but instead was treated to Georgia’s first NCAA Final Four. Even featured a win over Michael Jordan’s all star defending champion UNC team in the East Regional Finals! What a year!!
Saw Dominique play a couple of times at UGA while I was in Middle School before moving to NC. There I got to see his brother play since the Southern Conference basketball tournament was in Asheville, NC every year.
I saw Dominique play once in the 1982 NIT vs Temple in Athens. One highlight I recall was a breakaway steal by Gerald Crosby with Dominque streaking down wanting the ball. Crosby, a 6’ 1” freshman guard, took it himself for a two-handed slam with Wilkins looking on! A photo of that dunk made next year’s UGA basketball 🏀 media magazine!
I saw every home game Nique played at the Steg and a couple of road games as well.
Went to the December road game at Tech when Nique was a sophomore I believe in the little bandbox arena that held about 6-7 thousand fans. The Tech pep band was there but once the game started, it was apparent that 90% of he crowd was pro-dawgs. The evening was full of loud Georgia…Bulldawg cheers reverberating from opposite sides of the Arena every time Nique had a thundering dunk. The small student section of GTech fans had gone by halftime in the process of being humiliated.
Nique was so smooth running the court, kinda like a gazelle out there. A pleasure to watch for sure.
