Missouri coach Eli Drinkwitz: game ‘flipped’ for Georgia on pass interference call
ATHENS — Missouri came into Georgia with a slick slogan — STP — “Something to Prove.”
Comments
Yeah. He claimed that the refs had no explanation and offered none on a couple of calls he didn't like.
Without much thought, I remember one PI called on us that wasn't, one not called on them that was clearly PI, and, of course, the glaring, right in front of the ref face mask on Delp.
But okay...
Missouri received the lion’s share of gifts from the refs.
It wasn’t a great game for the officials. They didn’t award UGA a touchdown though.
I went back over the game and I discovered the very same thing on a few more missed calls that greatly benefited Mizzou...the BIG difference, The Dawgs overcame those calls.....But HEY, I'm rooten for The Tigers next week....with their running game (Schrader is the best RB we've faced) and Cook adding to the rush total combined with their receivers, Heupel will feel The greasy Dinkwitz STP!
Sometimes bad calls happen and you have to tighten up. I think each team got a few tick track PI calls
Eli had to offer his best explanation for the loss....he chose the pass interference call. The refs were definitely missing calls all afternoon...Delp face mask.....flagrant...uncalled. That one was obvious. Excuses fall like morning dew after a loss. Just how it is. Eli knows this.
Eli will have to come up with some new ones if he stumbles against TN next week. Would prefer he wins that one, though.
Hmmm. Interesting comment because they wouldn’t have gotten half the points they did get unless they hadn’t gotten those 2 bogus pass interference calls on us. Cry baby cry baby, s u c k your thumb. And how many holding calls did they get away with? The no call on the face mask was big too
He also was talking to the zebras an awful lot during the game. One time the head ref came all the way across the field to talk to him during a tv timeout. Just like all the other sore loser teams we beat, if this had happened…
I was there yesterday the penalties (bad calls) and no calls greatly helped Missouri, however the Dawgz tenacity overcame them and won the day. Nazir Stackhouse's interception was epic, but I didn't get how the ball placement ended at the Georgia 17 instead of inside the Mizzou ten. 😎
Do we have mizz fans reading this site? Losers vote down.
The game could have easily flipped on the completely bogus pass interference call on UgA. Kind of whiny to pick out a call.
Actually if the game hinges on anything it was woodring’s 47 yard field goal (or was it 48). That put uga 2 scores ahead. Otherwise, mizzou’s last March with a couple of minutes left has an entirely different feel and execution.
Woodring deserved the game ball (as much as we all love McKonkey (sp?)
Coaches should know that referees will make bad or questionable calls that benefit or hurt your team. UM had their share of beneficial calls. The way this guy berated the referees after a non- beneficial call was appalling. Coach Smart’s cool, level headed demeanor no matter what happens is pure class and sets the tone our team. Go Dawgs!!!
Yeah, that was crazy at first. But there was an illegal block by one of our players, so the penalty was marked off from the point of the interception. Which was back at the line of scrimmage, not where Stackhouse was tackled.
Man it's good to be a Dawg fan today! This will go down as the most critical win of the 2023 regular season.
As far as Eli goes, he needs to whine less and pay attention to detail more like CKS does. Near the end of the first half, Eli was in the refs ear about the clock not stopping when he felt the receiver made it to the sideline (he was incorrect btw). Instead of losing his cool and letting the clock run down, he should have called a timeout and perhaps had a shot at getting into FG range. It's rare you'll see CKS go into a rage against the refs and lose his cool, and he takes nothing for granted.
Go Dawgs!
Coach Eli, you've built a legit team. There was a questionable pass interference that helped you too. Stop whining and get ready for next week.
