McAfee reminds me of a White Stephen A. Smith: Loud and obnoxious!!
I don't get the appeal for McAfee. Maybe he's there to bring in a younger crowd, that must be it because he just comes across as childish to me.
Who cares what a loudmouth jerk wearing a “wife-beater” shirt says? I don’t.
I am not your cousin, and you pimp for a twink drink.
Right, nobody cares. A braying jackas$ is only entertaining to other jack@sses.
“Pollack, meanwhile, has not expressed any ill will toward ESPN or McAfee since being let go.”
Of course he hasn’t. David Pollack is a dude with class and is not likely to do something as regrettable as McAfee has. ESPN and McAfee were made for each other.
GO DAWGS!
I could be totally wrong, if I am by all means please feel free to correct me. But I can’t ever recall a supposedly Neutral sportscaster Ever telling an entire fanbase to go to hell.
No it’s Not his fault that ESPN laid David off. That’s true. But he’s Supposed to be a professional, antics or not. He’s drawing a Very nice salary as such. Again please correct me if I’m wrong cause these days I tend to be, Allot. But while at ESPN David never had his own exclusive show. McAfee does. My point is as a professional he’s Supposed to be able to rise above the ire of CFB fans or at the least respond to their ire in a class sort of way.
For example @MikeGriffith sometimes catches some pretty heavy flack from some fans, I’ve Never seen Mike respond in an u g l y way or tell someone to go to hell. Mike will defend himself but he does it with class.
Lastly contrast this with if this had been Bama while Saban was still there !! Can you even begin to imagine the repercussions ?? To Me ESPN has shown a very clear bias toward UGA for quite some time. This is just another example. And I Also Believe they hold Allot of sway with the PlayOff Committee just as they did in the BCS era.
Do I watch them ?? Yes but only when our Dawgs are on their channel as I have no other options. I stopped watching GameDay the moment they fired David Pollack. Each to their own if your a Dawgs fan and you enjoy McAfee that’s fine by me, so far it’s still a free country. As for me I had no use for the guy Before he told the Entire UGA fanbase to go to hell, all he did was make me double down on that view. Go Dawgs !!
I feel bad for the guy. He's a shock jock in the typcial Howard Stern kind of way. Eventually these guys crash and burn. Stern left his wife and started hanging out with strippers and porn stars. McAfee is cut in the same mold. Already having issues with management and started a full blow controversy with Aaron Rodgers. Then he got kicked in the nuts and had to tell Aaron No Mas. So he will make a lot of money and be a donkey's rear end. Best thing to do is to not give him ratings.
Georgia football is fine without him. He had to eat crow a couple times a year ago both for picking Tennessee and building them up (then we tore them and his prediction down) and then once again by winning back to back. I'd be willling to bet money we are still around as a contender in college football long after he has been fired by ESPN.
David Pollack has more integrity and football knowledge in his pinky fingernail than McAfee has in his entire steroid body. I think espn let Pollack go because of his comments about Georgia taking over college football with saban sitting on the set during halftime of the tcu game. Gameday lost a lot of viewers last year and not just Georgia fans. Rumors late in the season said mcafee wont be on gameday next season, but that remains to be seen. I hope he isn’t invited back. I don’t understand why people want to listen to a loud mouth, obnoxious i d i o t like that anyway. Evidently ratings and money are more important than integrity.
Maybe this is just a generational issue?
Everyone I run around with (mostly in their 30’s found it comical. We realize ESPN is now building their brand around more relatable “characters” for their primary demographics… ie. Stephen a being on EVERYTHING now, Pat McAfee, Paul Finebaums explosion in recent years etc.
Also, Pat is big in the wrestling community and I’ve noticed a lot of the poking of fun is simply to create narratives to thicken the plot. He knows what UGA is and knows a divide and then reuniting of himself with Georgia fans will only drive engagement.
We gotta stop taking ourselves and life so seriously. Just laugh occasionally… even if it’s at yourself or your fanbase. Stephen A would probably say that’s cathartic too.
If one sideways statement by a celebrity causes Howard Stern-like character equivalencies in your mind then I’d hate to hear the voice inside your head when a celebrity truly does something that’s repulsive and not just intended to be comedy. Yikes.
Pat’s a genuinely great family man. Been with the same lady for years. And just had a daughter who he spends time with every chance he gets. And he’s out providing the world to both of them on a silver platter as a result of the character he plays when live.
Give him a chance!
Why give this boil on the backside of the world any more ink? That's what he craves. That's the reason he does it. The worst thing for a narcissist is to leave him be. He was a punter for c sakes.
It's funny when folks say a story is not worth commenting on, and sure enough, they comment on it! Amazing.
To hell with McAfee! WOOFWOOFWOOF!
