Bulldog Bites: Dawgs’ toughest 2024 game, the ‘new Saban’ and more
UGA faces a daunting, front-loaded 2024 schedule, with its toughest games on the road.

Yes Bill, I do think Smart has replaced Saban at the top of the SEC, but there are several teams hoping to push us off the top - Texas being the first and foremost. As you said, they will be our toughest opponent this coming season.
Let's face it - Saban had a tougher road to the SEC Championship than the Dawgs for years because the Tide was in the SEC West. Now, the Dawgs won't have that luxury of skirting some of the tougher SEC opponents most years to reach the SECCG. With the transfer portal and its essential free agency, along with the pull of various team NIL Collectives, it becomes MUCH more difficult to win a National Championship. And the thought of a back-to-back Champion any longer has probably become virtually impossible with the harder SEC regular schedule and the 12-team playoff. You'd need a lot of lady luck to pull it off. The key victory to a Natty might be that Conference game win and coveted BYE in the 1st round of the playoffs.
The rubber meets the road starting this season for all contenders and those who are only pretenders at this point. The Dawgs will need to upgrade their game to make it through potentially 17 games...and I can't wait!
Go Dawgs
Bill your recap of the early to mid seventies (the streaking years) really hit home for me. As a 20 year old participating in such a widespread phenomenon was freeing the spirit (hangups) as well as feeling inclusive was therapeutic and by freeing inhibitions has made for a more enjoyable life than I don't think would have been possible otherwise. 50 years later the energy level is greatly diminished or I might be tempted to.....
Don't look Ethyl!
Bill,
I'd like to add one more streaking tale (?tail) from UGA. I think it was in 1977. I was working for the University Health Center providing medical coverage for the spring graduation event at Sanford Stadium. As the undergraduate graduation was coming to a conclusion, a very new member of the alumni stood tall and summarily stripped his graduation robe revealing his all. He then began to advance to the south side hedges followed intently by one our University police women. Though without the shearest of protection, he used his tall and lean form to high jump our beloved hedges. Unfortunately the female officer in pursuit (I'm generously estimating her height as 62") suffered a more ignominious fate. I would best describe her as being essentially impaled in the greenery, fortunately somewhat protected by her uniform. She was promptly freed by attendants. I did not see either her or the perp in our first aid room so I cannot convey the final outcome.
"Matching Saban’s seven natties might be an impossible dream."
Go Dawgs!!!
It was my wedding night 7-8-78 that my virgin bride, the women who had just vowed to have and to hold me....came to the shocking realization that this was not the first time she came to possess carnal knowledge of her new husband.....it had first occurred back when she resided at Myers!......Thanks for the memory Bill!
