"Wilson, the No. 20 recruit in the 2023 signing class, did not have the breakthrough true freshman season some had hoped for last season — he recorded just one sack — but he shared that great progress was made."

Opposing offenses are strategically getting the ball out more quickly against UGA as a counter measure to the aggressive pass rush. I believe this has impacted the number of sacks/pressures the UGA pass rushers are able to record. While Lassiter had his side well covered, I think soft coverage on the other side (Everett) often allowed the QB to get the ball out quickly and avoid a sack. If the DB's are able to be a little more "disruptive" at the LOS, it should buy another second or more to allow the pass rushers more opportunities to get their hands on the QB.

    GO DAWGS!

Well said GoodolDawg, everrette was a true freshman so I try to give him a little wiggle room.. but he got ate up last year. Our defense is so much better when playing press over zone. Everrette really struggled to disrupt opposing wr at the LOS and that allowed the qbs to get it out. I agree with you 100%. We also only rushed 3-4 on 80% maybe more of plays... that worked when we had JD or JC, but last year it showed that we had to rush 5-6 to get that good pressure in the backfield. I believe Everrette will be better this year and the veterans we have returning on the D line (hopefully see more of big baby as well) should make the defense as fun to watch as 2021 and 2022. One can only hope! But I see good things coming again, GO DAWGS!
