Congratulations to Georgia Bulldog Brian Harmon for nearly winning the Players Championship. He just missed a 12-foot putt to tie winner Scottie Scheffler and force a playoff. Brian finished in a 3-way tie for second earning 1.9 million. Not too bad for a week's worth of work.
The player's is now considered golf's premier event with a purse of $25 million. Exceeds the payout for each of the Majors and the six signature events.

That was a great ending yesterday. Several top players with a chance to force a playoff after the best player in the world took the lead. I hope the masters can follow suit with a close final day
Let’s not forget that Brian Harmon won The Open (formerly called The British Open) last year, one of the four Major golf tournaments. He’s ranked in the top 10 of all golfers worldwide. DGD!
I’m proud to say that Harmon graduated from my HS alma mater and that I played FB with his father who was a couple of grades behind me. So, that combined with him being a DGD, makes it easy for me to pull for him.
That's a great connection. Do you still keep in touch?
Not really, I haven’t seen his father in years. However, I did see Brian a number of years ago at the Cloister on Sea Island when he was still playing for UGA. So, I introduced myself and told him to say hello to his dad.
I went to the Players Championship on Friday and said “Go Dawgs” to Harris English on the 4th tee. He gave me the “thumbs up” and said Go Dawgs right back!
Kevin Kişner told a good story Sunday on TV about Harman coming in as a freshman when UGA had just won the national championship in golf with captain Kişner, Brendan Todd and Chris Kirk (current PGA stars). Harman comes in and takes over the number 1 spot; he was that good!
Good that you got the chance to meet him and share your experience with his dad with him. It;s good for us all to know more about our family pasts as a humble reminder that history didn't start with us.
Brian is a good person to boot. But Sheffler has put together a few years of phenomenal golf and is the best in the world right now. He's also a Christian and a good guy too.
Scottie Scheffler has been on fire. Winner of the Arnold Palmer and The Players netting him $8.5 million in prize money and 1450 FedEx Cup points. He now leads the FedEx Cup by 767 points.
Five shots behind in the Players entering the final round, his 8 under 64 enabled him to capture the.win.
He smashes his tee shots and seldom misses the fairway.
Scheffler off the tee is great. However, his approach shots to the green and his strategy behind it is what separates him from the rest. He never short sides himself and generally is on the “right side” of the flag on the green. And now that the putter is hot he may not lose. He is dominating right now and has that confidence that is the secret to winning golf or any sport for that matter.
