Good for Zion to get drafted by the Falcons. Hopefully he will be more than a practice squad player like the last two Dawgs were. He is a DGD and played a lot of snaps for the Dawgs and his contributions will always be appreciated. That said, it feels like there is always something cynical about the way the Falcons pick former UGA players. They never seem to pick the player that would actually be a starter for the team. It's more for show so they can say to the fans, "see, we picked a GA player!" In '22 they took Justin Shaffer over the higher rated lineman, Jamaree Salyer. Shaffer is out of the league and Salyer is starting for the Chargers. This year the obvious pick for the Falcons should have been Sedrick Van Pran. The Falcons need a quality center and he would have been the anchor for the team for the next 10 years. Instead, the Bills steal him in the 5th round and the Falcons take a random Pac X player. For the NFL team closest to Athens, they seem to have no clue about who their best players are in the draft. Typical.
