That's the way to handle Pauwwwwl. I cannot tell you the current obsession out here by local sports media WRT Finebaum and his roasting of Riley. His comments are all they want to talk about. I watched a local video blogger, who is a rank amateur IMO, claim that it's all because the SEC is afraid of Riley and what USC can become if they return to the Pete Carroll level of play. He claims that EVERYONE remembers the beatdowns that USC put on Auburn and Arkansas in the early 2000's. Do they, though? USC fans do but do any SEC fans really think about that….ever?

Paul has made a living pandering for Alabama and now he is trying to balance it out a bit in case Bama free falls? His bias is overwhelming and his selected recurring so called callins is a joke. Few if any of hundreds of not thousands of others true callers are left in the cold.

"Kiffin reminded Finebaum of the sharp criticism the award-winning columnist and show host had doled out when Kiffin was famously fired on an airport tarmac as USC’s coach after a loss in 2013."

Kiffin deserved that criticism, though. The fact that it still offends him makes me think that Kiffin still doesn't have good self-awareness. At that point in his career, he had just been riding his father's name for jobs with little to no personal accomplishments on his record. He had bailed on Tennessee in an entirely unprofessional manner and then failed miserably at USC. And, Paul Finebaum was far from the only media personality crapping on Kiffin at that time. I mean, pretty much the entire SEC community had been dumping on him ever since he bounced on Tennessee and chuckled at his failures at USC. I can still remember the questions made both by fans online and by the national media when Saban hired Kiffin as OC.

It's like Kiffin has forgotten all the dumb crap he's done in his career that was the cause of the criticisms he's received.

Wait, Paul makes his living giving opinions and Lane is hurt that Paul gave his negative opinion about Lane at one point in the past. Lane, he's a talking head.

Lane is coaching and trying to advance his career(peronna, nestegg, fame and fortune). Lane's out for Lane and Paul is out for Paul. Both have done pretty well. I don't see a problem. Life is usually full of bumps in the road. Lane's a survivor and I think Paul is pretty thick skinned.

Finebaum. Herbstreit. Saban. I sure wish the SEC wouldn’t have made the deal with the devil aka espn bc there isn’t anyone who is going to advocate for UGA on that network. It’s Alabama & Texas 24/7. Also why I think FSU & Clemson will eventually join the Big Ten

I do not have a problem with Kiffin going after Finebaum. Too many of these media personalities take personal shots at players and coaches in the name of doing their job. Referring to him as the Miley Cyrus of college football was way out of line. Kudos to Coach Kiffin.

Kiffin has above average self-awareness. He's poked fun at himself many times over that firing. And the truth is, it wasn't on the tarmac, although it was at the airport. He was taken off the bus, brought into an office, and then fired. He tried to negotiate to stay until the end of the season and had JK McKay convinced, but Haden said no anyway.

There's no doubt he handled Tennessee poorly. However, he had 2 stints at USC. The first time, USC went 23-3 with Lane as the OC. In the 3 years he was the recruiting coordinator, USC had the #1 ranked class every single year. His 2nd tenure was really unfair to Lane IMO. USC was facing severe sanctions and NOBODY wanted the job. He jumped at it. USC was given a two-year postseason ban and the loss of 30 scholarships over three years.

After the sanctions, he coached USC to records of 8-5, 10-2, 7-6, then 3-2 before being fired. But in his first year and second year as HC, even with the sanctions, USC had the #3 recruiting class. They dropped to #8 in his 3rd year. That's shocking considering what he had to overcome WRT negative recruiting.

Personally, I don't find his time at USC to have been a failure at all. Most "fans" don't necessarily know the truth. Sarkisian was a major failure there. And worse than that, is former AD Pat Haden who humiliated Kiffin and USC by the way he handled the termination.

Lane is very self-deprecating. Over time, he has matured, learned, and become a better coach. Finebaum does what he does…..and Lane had every right to respond.

Pawl's Alabama bias drove me away. When Saban left, Pawl's show became a memorial to Nick.

For whatever reasons the fans at USC hated him per sources.

Some sourses say according to ESPN tha the only got the USC job becasue he told them his dad would come with him and coach the defense. That didn't happen.
