Hope Tech's deserved win over double digit favorite FSU in Ireland reminds the Dawgs that early season projections rarely correlate with reality.

Last season we were predicted to have an easy schedule. Looking back on last year, our schedule was far from easy.

If FSU is a good as the announcers said it was going into the game against Georgia Tech, we should expect a very tough game against the NATS. Kentucky generally plays us tough, too. Of course, we won't know much until the games are played.

In spite of generally channeling Larry Munson, I'm predicting the Dawgs will go undefeated this year.

    Go, Dawgs!

I have a hard time predicting Georgia will go undefeated through this brutal schedule… but if they play up to their potential and stay relatively injury free, they should beat every opponent. And yes, sleep on Kentucky and you'll get punched in the mouth. Go Dawgs!

here is why the 12 team playoff is silly and complete overkill- Dawgs could go through murderers row schedule undefeated, Make it to the SECC in ATL, lose that game to a 1 loss SEC foe, then get bumped all the way down to a 5 seed(and don’t say it won’t happen, because it JUST DID in 2023!!)

Then they’d lose out on a bye and, just like last season, if they go into the playoff with some bumps and bruises to key players, it could be all for naught.

If the other top 4 seeds are either undefeated or one loss but win their league, Dawgs will get the shaft again.

I think a lot of fans have not realized how this expanded playoff has increased the odds for an inconsistent team during the regular season getting hot or fortunate to avoid major injuries being crowned the champion, while decreasing the odds of a team like Georgia that consistently wins in tough environments during the regular season (12 games).

Rob Manfred did this to baseball in 2022 and it has ruined the playoffs in some aspects-mainly because it renders a 100+ win regular season over 6 month season virtually meaningless, while an 85 win team can sweep in and take it all not because of their skill, talent, and performance over a 162 game season-but because of randomness and luck, be fortunate for 4 weeks over 12 to 15 games.

Oh, and don’t look now, but after playing @ Ole Miss and UT, back to back weeks, we get to play a tech team that just knocked off the reigning undefeated ACC champ from 2023.

and if the Dawgs whoop the bugs, how much will it matter if they lose the SEC championship game the next week?

    ZERO.

Why? Because of the expanded playoffs.

I don’t buy into the hype for Texas. They had a great season last year in a weak Big 12. While they did beat bama, that was before Milroe became the QB he was later in the season. They also lost to Oklahoma and struggled against inferior opponents down the stretch. This is the SEC, not the weak Big 12 from last season. They’ll find out very soon that they’ll have to bring it every game in order to have success. I don’t see it for them this year. Go Dawgs!!

The two most dangerous games on the schedule are Kentucky and the Bugs.

Let's admit it: Dawgs benefitted greatly at least the last 5 years or more from a pretty easy slate of SEC East foes. Now, we've got to play a much more challenging regular season schedule, and that will be the case most years going forward. Heck, even the Jackets might be on to something special and tougher than advertised.

Bill, I agree with your 11-1 prediction, and I think Tim is probably about spot on with his prognosis. I think we will see numerous freshman and guys who have been in the background or not played much step up and surprise all of us with their performances. We not only need some of that, we've simply got to have it to make it deep into the playoffs. A deep talented bench & key injuries will also be a key factor in determining who actually takes home the Natty with a potential 17 games to play.

Can't wait to kick things off Saturday!

Bill, I love the optimism, but I feel the schedule makers wanted to stack the deck against the Dawgs. Winning three top 6 SEC road games seems like an impossible ask.

With that, I do believe that with a little luck in the injury department, this is a team that can win it all this season. GOOOODAWGS!

What we don't have can't be ascertained just yet, but it is very clear we do have a lot of freshmen in the three deep. We need them to grow and develop rapidly.

Kirby said something to the effect of we don't have what we've had in the past and want to have now in terms of depth and development, but we still have a better situation than other teams. Did I understand his comments correctly?

We don't have to be as good as the best team ever, we just have to beat the teams we play on Saturday. Good thing.

I'm not thinking about the season. I'm thinking about Saturday's game with Clemson. Those jokers can beat you if you're not looking.

Maybe weird things are happening in college football, but I continue to trust that the very capable Kirby & Company want what we want. They also have the resources.

I'm predicting an undefeated season because why not? That won't lessen my concerns about Saturday.

    Go, Dawgs!
