ATHENS — SEC coaches got their first game day taste of radio helmet and I-Pad tablet technology on Saturday and most all agreed the players benefitted.

How about an article telling us exactly how the iPad works for the teams, what they see on the device, how the information is obtained, and processed, and delivered, etc.

Nice that it helped with adjustments and converting on 3rd and long. But too many 3rd and longs. 1st game and a (soon to be) 4th string RB vs a good D contributed to too many 3rd and longs. Hopefully traditionally very good Clemson D will be one of the better D's UGA faces this season.

Jim, that’s exactly what I was thinking. I understand the sound part in the helmet, but I don’t have a clue what the iPad part is all about. Is there also a camera in the helmet? This new technology is crazy and I’m so old I remember when they added a face mask……and at that time it was a single bar on the front of the helmet. Go Dawgs!!!

I just figured it out. Apparently the iPad issue is separate from the helmet communication issue. Looks like both teams simultaneously receive video replays of all plays from various angles. That enables the teams to see instantly from the sidelines what just took place on a play. That’s cool and I see how incredibly useful the “real-time” technology would be during a game. Go Dawgs!!!
Is this the same video those of us at home have already seen? Is it from whatever angle they want?
Can the offensive team members watch video when they're on the sidelines waiting for the defense to do a three and out? Watch only at halftime?
I assume the players don't have to wade through all the plays, and that someone on the staff has curated plays. Is this correct? If so, how is that done?
