“NIL is certainly a component of today’s world, the landscape of collegiate athletics, not just football. At the end of the day, it’s really important that you have the right people in the building, that care about their teammates and guys around them and love competing.”

Exactly. And contractual obligations on the part of the player will go a long way to keeping these kind of defections to a minimum. There have got to be guardrails. We don't want guys who are only in it for the money and playing time. We want guys who can contribute, buy into the program & culture, and want to be coached and developed. Bear Alexander has been a problem child since he was at Georgia. No surprise the guy is whining again now.

Sadly, college football as a whole will suffer greatly, and only get worse now that players are in charge. And as you stated, many that are just chasing the quick almighty dollar, nothing else. If NIL were somehow regulated, or had uniform guidelines for every school I could see it being beneficial. I don't see that happening though since guidelines are different from state to state on NIL. But paying a kid 6-7 figures straight out of high school, having never played a single play in college sports? That is absolutely ridiculous to say the least. If I'm a Head Coach, and you walk away from the team because of NIL problems (thats between you and the collective you trusted, and shows me youre all about the money, not the team), i can guarantee you, you will not affect the team because of it. If you quit on your teammates, coaches, and school from a NIL deal gone bad..you best not expect me to hold your roster spot open for a possible return to the team, that won't be happening.

IMO Sluka has a legitimate complaint. UNLV seemingly reneged on their NIL commitment to him. Probably because they promised money they didn't have and weren't able to raise. He wants to preserve his last year of eligibility as his audition for the NFL but he wants to be paid what was promised to him.

Bear Alexander feels he is entitled to game snaps based on his name only apparently. He didn't want to work for it at UGA and doesn't seem to want to work for it at USC. Talented young man but UGA is probably better off w/o him on the team. Addition by subtraction.

Also Alexander has a guardian/advisor that has been very dramatic. Complaining publicly and criticizing everyone but the underperforming, lack of effort player.
