ATHENS — Georgia’s Kirby Smart sounded very much like a head coach who knew to be buckled in for a bumpy ride on Saturday.

Teams in other conferences are undefeated because they don't play quality conference opponents week in and week out. Unlike the SEC, where teams face formidable opponents each and every week. There are no easy wins in the SEC anymore. Vandy would give most ACC teams a run for their money now. Miami was given the win against VT last week by the refs, to keep a weak ACC team in the top 10. The same top 10 team that struggled all game against an average Cal team last night. Miami is not a top 10 team..GoDAWGS!

I really hate it when someone says, "Yeah, we're mediocre but everybody is." Our standards should be higher than everybody else.

What is the answer going forward? More NIL money to land more 5s instead of 3s and 4s? I fear so. Upgrading our coaching? I fear so.

you mean to tell me we don’t have any o-line depth after bringing in one of the most talented o lineman class last year that averaged 6,6 and 340 pounds? Give me a break

    Conner, FYI, dearth:

    1. : scarcity that makes dear

    2. : an inadequate supply : lack.

If UGA can have a "dearth of injuries" the rest of the season, I think we'd all be dancing in the streets 😁👍🤣

This season and last season the Dawgs were beset by injuries to key positions. Some injuries happened in practice but most seemed to come during games. Brock Bowers being less than 100% in the SEC championship game was one of the reasons the Tide won.

Everybody seems to think that the axiom "iron sharpens iron" applies to football practice. Not true; iron rubbing on iron sharpens iron. But when the contact is blade to blade it pits and dulls the blade.

Good article. As far as some of the comments....how do you do an "eye roll" on texting? Lol

IMO....There's a distinct difference between "depth", and "experienced depth". UGA has loads of talented "depth"....but, low on "experience" [number of game reps].

The old adage is true. You can't replace experience. No substitute. The guys are just going to have to take their licks as they come….and, learn on the fly.

Some players have the talent to cover for their mental shortcomings. But, that usually leads to bad habits, that have to be broken at some point in their development.

Understandably.…Kirby would rather not have to do that. That doesn't...er...didn't fit the plan or Program. Out of necessity....now, it does.

As the article suggests.…UGA isn't the only team dealing with that "necessity". All of em are, or will be. The Dawgs are in a much better position than the rest.…Imo. But, I could be wrong. We'll see, in time.

I never understood the expectations that this team created in the media and fans, pre-season. If anyone had taken the time to check, GA lost 90% of its scoring from 2023. That's not easily replaceable. Add the conference schedule which is ridiculous, I found it surprising, to say the least, anyone would have placed the Dogs #1.
