Georgia plants flag in Lone State State, regains SEC superiority with 30-15 win over Texas
AUSTIN, Texas — Everything really was bigger in Texas for the Georgia football team on Saturday night, most notably, the Bulldogs’ efforts.

So well written!
Thanks Mike!
Go Dawgs!
Looking back at the Texas game, I think Carson will be alright. I believe at least some of the interceptions were a function of all of the dropped passes and the lack of separation of receivers, lack of time in the pocket, and maybe a little frustration.
If those things are improved with better blocking, we should see more consistent and longer drives and a better point spread.
Great game. Go Dogs!
Love proving all the doubters wrong! Dawgs may've not played their best, but they d@mn sure gave it their all. Extremely proud of those guys and hope they can maintain that tenacity they displayed last Saturday night. Keep it going, Dawgs! Championships await you!
And shame on those idiot texas fans for throwing crap onto the field. Way to make an impression your first year in the SEC, you big dummies! Shame on those pathetic refs for calling so much BS against Georgia. They should never be allowed to call another SEC game, especially games involving Georgia. Chumps!
Okay, I feel better now…😁
GOOOOOO DAWGS!
BEAT FLORIDA!
As I suspected, Texas was over confident, they were hearing the rat poison and they believed it! I wanted us to play like it mattered! With passion! And they delivered. THe game wouldn't even have been as dramatic as it was at the end if our defenders intercept one of those passes from Ewers that hit them in the hands! LOL! But that's football. Great win!
"Fact is, NIL dollars has taken away the appetite of collegiate players -- endorsement deals, fast cars and expensive lifestyles are a distraction from the film room and extra time on practice fields."
I hope our defense becomes obsessed with what they experienced Saturday night (domination), and the offense develops that desire to perform at that same level. There's enough talent for this team on both sides of the ball to totally dominate anyone they face. Players of that caliber can only be satisfied by performing at an elite level, that kind of satisfaction will not come through an NIL deal.
GO DAWGS!
"Georgia football program’s first-ever road game against a No. 1-ranked team." That's some sweet, sweet music!
One correction, though, @MikeGriffith: I'm pretty sure Herbstreit didn't pick a winner in this game — he always abstains for the game he's about to call. But, yeah, we can guess what he was thinking! 😉
Here's another reason for optimism: We also had more key players out injured.
With Roderick Robinson in the game, that 4th-and-a-foot late with two minutes left gets a between-the-tackles call and is unstoppable (although I still don't get why Kirby went for it).
And with either Robinson we don't need four downs to get in on that last touchdown (although in fairness, the officials erred in claiming Etienne didn't make it in on 2nd down). Even Branson would have given us more power in short yardage.
As well as Freeling and Truss have been playing on the right side, Ratledge had been in the middle of proviing that he's among the best OGs in college football. I'm guessing we get a couple more first with him in at the top of his form, plus a bit less pressure on Beck.
With Walker, Allen, Wilson and even Cole playing so well, we didn't even need Smael — but it would have been nice. Similar thing with Hall and Miller: Stackhouse, Brinson and Ingram-Dawkins were outstanding.
I think their only significant injury was their first-string punter — and it showed.
At the risk of quibbling, I don't think the refs erred in denying Etienne the touchdown. I think they knew exactly what they were doing. That was the definition of indisputable video evidence, and they ignored it.
All the dropped passes are troubling! The ones from Beck to his receivers, as well as the ones our defense couldn’t get a handle on, right in their hands, from Ewers! Learning to catch is very elementary! Don’t run before you make the catch!
