CFP committee cites ‘struggling’ Georgia offense for Bulldogs drop from projected 12-team field
ATHENS — Kirby Smart makes it a point not to rely on external factors for motivation, but the College Football Playoff committee provided some, anyway.

The Fix is in for the Big 10. Manual covered for Michigan last year when they should’ve been disqualified and it’s more of the same now.
"Struggling offense", huh?...Lol.
Yep...duck everybody! Another truckload of horse manure comin' our way!
I guess, under the watchful eyes of this distinguished Committee....OSU, Texas, Penn St and the rest don't have any issues. Other than playing a weak-ass schedule.
Let's see....UGA played 3 of the current top 11 teams, losing to two on the road and beating the #1 [current #3] Texas...in Texas, handily. All that, with a #7 team, Tennessee, still on the way to Athens. Note....I didn't even mention beating a top 20 Clemson to start the season on a neutral field.
Let's compare UGA's close losses to everybody else's. I'm just sayin'...OSU ain't playing against top 20 defenses every other Saturday. No wonder they appear to have fewer issues. Lol…where is the common sense in all this?.
The Dawgs are once again being "disrespected".…and, I feel earth tremors coming from North Georgia.
Go get em Big Red.
You can never expect a break from the CFP committee for Georgia. In their bias, undefeated Georgia loses a conference championship game by 3 points and is out of the playoff—despite being called one of the top four teams in the country. Two loss Georgia plays the toughest schedule (by far) of those in the top ten today, and yet finds itself outside of the CFP looking in because it’s offense struggled? I get tired of hearing the bull from this committee chair.
Georgia must, as always, win the SEC championship to ensure a playoff spot. Without that this year—Perhaps if they win out in impressive fashion this committee will have a harder time leaving them out of the playoffs. But don’t count on it.
we gotta earn it, we haven’t looked like a playoff team even in our wins. Tennessee will be the test.
I think CFP rankings are the least of our worries. I would not be surprised if we lose by double digits to Tenn and could well lose to Tech as well. The team is just not as good this year as the teams we’ve grown to love over the last several years. We haven’t put together a complete win (TT excepted) yet this year. Even good wins over Clemson and Texas they were far from complete games. I remember watching in recent years how our QB could sit and take a nap in the pocket, protection was so good. Then he could find open receivers who would almost always make the catches, spectacular and routine. We had a lock-down corner who could take out the teams’ best receivers along with safeties who could cover as well as tackle in run support. The defense front seven could get home to pressure or sack opposing QBs, and the run defense was obviously a brick wall. There were games that I was nervous about, but I always felt we would do something to pull it out in the close ones. This year, I haven’t had that confidence going into any game. I’m not gonna bemoan coaching, NIL/TP or player skill, but just as not every Heisman winner or All-American makes it in the league, not every 4 or 5 star will make it in college. Our pool of that talent this year, be it due to injury, discipline or whatever else, just isn’t there.
The CFP is laying the ground work for another playoff snub. I fully expect if we win out, Alabama and Ole Miss would get the nod because of the head to head losses. No matter that we also would have beat the #1 team and likely SEC champion (Texas), a highly ranked Tennessee team, and the ACC conference champion (Clemson). We were way too nice about it last year and the CFP knows UGA will roll over if they do it again.
@robinssawg
We could very well lose to both Tennessee and Tech but the curious thing is I don't think CKS would take ownership of coaching job they did. THere's no arguing the talent pool has dried up somewhat. But who does that fall back to? CKS, CSS, CMB, whoever is coaching the DB's & safeties, and on down the line we go. Recruiting! Even though we had great recruiting classes, did we get the right recruits to fill the needs we had? It's great to get a 5 star LB in a room full of stud linebackers but what we needed was a 5 star nose gaurd. Get my point?
It's pretty obvious now that CKS didn't use the portal to his advantage in the trenches the way some other teams have who didn't recruit as well as we did. It generally takes 2-3 years to develop recruits. BUt the portal is the great equalizer.
A good coach can win when you give him great players. THe best coaches can win with really good players who they coach up. Wehave enough talent to coach up.
Bobo needs to call plays that will slow the pass rush down or use misdirection to take advantage of their pursuit. You dont have to wait til the 2nd half to try something different. Pass on 1st downs, try to be unpredictable.

Georgia will never be elite as long as Bobo is coordinator and Searels is offensive line coach. Abysmal schemes.
Lexi33 is right. Smart needs to have a search team ready to go now.
Neither has anybody else....IMO. So, why does UGA warrant the the extra analysis?. I'm just sayin.
Go Dawgs!
More of the same. They make it up as they go. We all know this.
The CFP is rubbish anyway it is configured. Too much subjectivity. Our performances this year not withstanding, but teams that have not played anywhere near as tough a schedule should not be ranked ahead of us. The only answer is an NFL style league of the top programs. That way a Big 10 or Big 12 school cannot cruise through an easy schedule and be ranked ahead of SEC schools. Just my opinion and we all know what is said about opinions, lol.
All our Dawgs can do is win out and not worry about the rest.
Go Dawgs!
