- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

Home Sweet Home: SEC road games have never been more treacherous or costly in CFP rankings
ATHENS — SEC families and friends will gather this Thanksgiving, at some point reckoning how there is no place like home.

The playoff committee doesn't care about the facts.
What do they care about besides wins and losses? Certainly not strength of schedule. Certainly not the difficulty of winning on the road in the SEC as opposed to the ease of winning on the road in the weak conferences. Certainly not the disparity in top to bottom strength in other conferences as compared with the SEC.
The committee is at best lazy.
Go, Dawgs!
Great analysis Mike.
Wow. Things really took a negative turn this season for road games compared to other conferences and even as compared to the last several years in the SEC.
Personally, I think that is because this season there are no dominant team(s) in the SEC, and there is much more parity around the conference. So it's honestly a toss-up on whether you can win on the road no matter who you are playing. Heck, you can even lose at home when you are the big favorite. Things may change next season but maybe not.
Well, UGA is getting another of those "home" games, so it should prove victorious for the Dawgs.
That was some in-depth analysis, Mike. Interesting.
Wow, Mike. You’re really out here ripping off what your former colleague, Seth Emerson, wrote for The Athletic a few days ago.
He didn’t do the analysis. Seth Emerson did for The Athletic. Mike is ripping him off
main problem is unlike the other conferences which propped up their top teams with easier schedules the SEC chose the path of rating. They succeeded at their detriment of possibly losing a playoff game because we were all fooled into thinking SOS would matter. We have to live for this one more year (which has been fun) but it will change drastically in the next scheduling cycle
One item to note - How many teams won on the road against a Top-15 ranked team?
I think Jiom Wallace summed things up nicely.
