Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

I just watched it again, and my own eyes just confirmed what I've known to be true. The back of Jackson's helmet went across King's facemask as he drove his shoulder into him. That's the objective reality, how you interpret it is up to you.
Considering that his head was off to the side relative to the main contact and the helmet contact was outside of what I've always seen as the definition of the crown of the helmet, I maintain that it would have been an incorrect call. If you want to argue about where the crown of the helmet ends and whether the facemask first made contact within that unmarked/imaginary border, you're getting into very nit-picky territory about a call that would have changed the entire course of the game (which has been my point all along).
He did lower his head, but again, it wasn't the main point of contact, so I don't see any real player safety argument here. You can correctly argue that it was not good form for a tackle, but that in and of itself is not a penalty.
It's true that such penalties have been called before, but that wouldn't have made it right. That was my point in comparing it to holding - that they would have had to come up with a way to enforce the rule in a scenario where it had no clear applicability - in which case, one could point to all kinds of plays throughout the course of any game where it could have just as legitimately been called, but wasn't because there simply wasn't enough there. With the precedent that's been set in defining it, there's almost always a case to be made for it if you really want to call it. But when you look at whether there is any actual infraction that goes (to your point) to preserving player safety, all too often that precedent doesn't hold water. This would have been yet another one of those times.
... plus, as has been pointed out many times already, it's not as though the refs had been calling a solid game and suddenly lost their whistles when Georgia came up with the play of the game. There were moments of bad officiating that benefitted/hurt both teams throughout the game. There's no reason for so much emphasis to be placed on such a questionable grievance other than the significance of the moment itself, which has nothing to do with the actual officiating.
I watched a couple three times…Dan hit the ball. King even admitted it. I am not sure what the ref saw? They did not call it soooo? Just a superficial look is all we get. All I know is, Dan is a baller. He hits with intent! There the ball lay until Chambliss happened on it. Game changer. I hope the Texas game sees a cleaner UGA win? It should.
I went back and watched the JAckson hit repeatedly and unless you have a shot facing from Dan's direction (from behind him)you have to make assumptions that he hit him with the crown of his helmet, because the film doesn't show it. Maybe he did ,mabe he didn't. MAybe the crown of his helmet went just to the right of King's helmet, and the jarring was from Dan's shoulders pads. You can argue that it sure "looks like" he had to of him with the crown, and you may very well be right, but you cannot say 100%. That's the facts unless you've got the reverse angle. MAybe its out there, I don't know, but I did look for it and couldn't find it.
One thing for sure it must not have been as conclusive as some people believe or else it's just a major conspiracy to help UGA out. COuld the refs, Techs coaches, and King have missed it? Perhaps, but it would be lousy of the refs to call a flagrant foul that effected the outcome of the game without 100% certainty.
Oh and the refs did do exactly that , they throw a flag on a ridiculous interfernce call against us that helped Tech stay in the game, in the endzone. I'd like to see the replay in slow motion on that one.
