Georgia projects as sweet favorite in Sugar Bowl matchup with Notre Dame or Indiana
ATHENS — Kirby Smart is in no hurry to divulge much about Georgia’s plans between now and the Sugar Bowl CFP Quarterfinal Game.

Yet (as I noted earlier), 7/10 ESPN college football "staff" picked ND to beat us in a potential 2nd round matchup! THEY'RE STILL DISRESPECTING THE DAWGS!!! (AND I LOVE IT!!!)
I hope Notre Dame beats the crap out of Indiana, the most overrated team in the playoff field. Indiana played one CFP Top 25 team, losing to Ohio State 38-15 on the road. Their 11-1 record looks great, but of the eleven teams they beat only 7-5 Michigan had a winning record, eight of their opponents had outright losing records, and two teams they played were 6-6. The combined record of the eleven teams they beat is 51 wins and 81 losses, a winning percentage of 38.6%. They should not be rewarded for scheduling non-conference foes 4-8 FIU from Conference USA, 4-8 Western Illinois from the Missouri Valley Conference, and 5-7 Charlotte from the American Athletic Conference. They should also not be rewarded for running up the score on hapless 1-11 Purdue, 66-0. Twenty-one of those points came in the fourth quarter.
@DawgForTheLongHaul that was unusual. Yes, Indiana played an easy schedule. But aside from the Bill Mallory era in the 80s through mid 90s (and even Mallory had a losing record there) Indiana is one of the worst football programs in the country. Their program career record is 506–704–45. What on earth are they supposed to accomplish with a tough nonconference schedule filled with teams that are going to beat them? If your issue is with their Big 10 schedule, that is bogus. UCLA, Nebraska and Michigan State are generally winning programs. Michigan and Washington played for the national title last year. With that plus Ohio State, the Big 10 office THOUGHT that they were giving IU a competitive schedule with 6 traditionally good programs, plus Maryland, Purdue and Northwestern known for being bowl teams. The odds of 8 of those 9 having bad years at the same time was low. Would Indiana losing to one of the Big 10 programs that beats them 9 times out of 10 made you happier? Why? As for the Purdue thing … that is a hated an in-state rivalry. Trust me: Purdue has run up the score on IU tons of times.
Given The Hoosiers haven't beat anybody of note and ND beat TAM 23/13, G AT 31/13, Army 49/14 and USC 49/35, It's money in the bank to forget the 8.5 and take ND. The Dawgs couldn't have a better game to begin our march to Natty Land…considering our recent history with "Our Lady"……this "virgin" will be easy pickens for The Dawgs and Nawlins will be over run with Red and Black……I'm also thinking The Feline Nitters will sew up the Mustangs rather quickly and rope the Blue Broncos resulting in a match up with another historically pleasing opponent…..we've had James Franklins number ever since he bailed on Vandy….SO, the conundrum is will the Longhorns be able to take down The Ducks…..if they can box in and pressure the heavin Hawaiian and give Arch plenty of snaps, The Dawgs will Three-Peet and The Brown Bovines will be prayin for another pandemic or nuclear war to keep them from Sanford.
ND's overrated too, IMO (though not by as much as Indiana).
There's a big gulf between the seven top-rated teams on one hand, and Boise, Az St, Indiana, SMU & Clemson on the other.
ESPN already projected ND will beat Indiana and then beat UGA. Let’s get this posted everywhere in Athens please. #dontdisrespectthedawgs
go Dawgs!! Hope the team can get healed up so we can back a real run in the playoffs.
I think we should be more like a 3 point favorite over ND. They are big and have a running QB like Tech but only better. Their defense held Tech to only 64 rushing yards, how many did they get on us? 260??? I would love to see us play ND but it probably will be another nail biter with the Dawgs winning by a field goal as time expires.
I’m just surprised anyone still bets or picks against us. We may not win them but, aside from the Ole Miss game, we have shown to be the more resilient and long-game team.
No way I would bet against the University of Georgia. Remember, two weeks ago we were on the outside looking in. Today we are the number two seed. Yes, we did earn it and yes, we did show up all those prognosticators, other than Pat McAfee, amazingly.
These picks mean nothing and I look forward to the “no one respected us” comments when we win it all. This playoff is well set for a run.
I just don't get why anyone would predict this. Because ND beat a just-OK Texas A&M? Because they beat a 6-6 USC team by two TDs? Maybe because they had a stronger game against Tech than we did? The last one is the only one that seems to hold any water, but I don't know how much.
I went on the internet and looked at quite a few sports outlets news. ESPN, USA Today, CBS, Sports Illustrated, etc. etc. And the vast majority had ND beating IN then ND beating UGA.
Many of them said Dawgs will lose Even if Beck is able to play !! No Respect !! But that’s a Good thing, will make it all the sweeter when our Dawgs curb stomp the Irish !! Oh and on that same note Many of them have ND vs Oregon in the Natty but losing to the Ducks.
I Know Kirby tells his players to ignore media but I kinda hope this will become Bulletin Board material !! Go Dawgs !! “ All I Want For Christmas Is Another National Title and Trophy “
BEst case scenario is Notre Damw beats Indiana easlily and comes into the Sugar Bowl feeling their oats. Wont be ready for our brand of football.
