Oh I got you, and agree. It was a Question to him. But it just seems like there are some negative vibes there. I think some Dawgs fans wrongly expected Gunner to come out and be as good if not better than Beck. That was/is totally unrealistic. Things might change but the backup QBs don’t have or had exclusive time with the Ones Offense. They rotate. The starting QB gets Way more time with the Ones unit. Now I’m sure in the three weeks prior to the bowl game Gunner Did get allot of time with the Ones. I’m just asking for fairness. I sincerely doubt that Pugs or Rashada would have done any better than Gunner having to be thrown into the SECCG. And it wouldn’t be Fair to expect that of them. Pugs was a true freshman. Rashada brand new to the UGA system. So throwing them in the fire expecting great things wouldn’t be fair to either of them.

I just had a dawg bone of contention with his assessment of Gunner did “OK”. No Seeing and Realizing the circumstances he had to deal with he actually did very good, and that seems to be the consensus of Most Dawgs fans. The OLine has been suspect all year, but I don’t recall them having that bad performance all year. It was Terrible !! Not only did they get beat several, several times on the edge they got beat up the middle to !! And as I said literally no run support. Then once we got behind pretty bad, they were tasking Gunner to try to make a come back with time dwindling away. That’s just too much to put on a guy with little experience.

YES and YES by all means have a vigorous and robust QB comp. And If one of the other guys is Clearly and Significantly better then yeah plug Em in there. Team First. BUT as soon as is possible a Starter has to be named.

I’ve read where Beck, Bennett, Fromm, others have said very clearly that looking over their shoulder is enormous pressure and it Does effect them. Once they Know they are The Man it takes a load off their shoulders and they can better press on.

To Me unless one of those guys is Significantly better Gunner should be The Man, longevity Should be a factor to some extent. Most Dawgs fans seem to be pretty satisfied with Gunner’s performance in the SECCG. And even though unfortunately we lost Most seem pretty satisfied with his bowl game performance under the circumstances. But he Will have to compete to Get and Keep the job and that’s how it should be. P.S. My comments were Never meant as sarcasm toward anyone.

GS played pretty well. Better than could be expected. Did he play great? No. But if all of UGA's starters played as well as GS did UGA would've probably won. It will be interesting to see the QB position evolve between now and game 1 of '25. A QB will probably leave and a QB will probably come in. The level of QB will tell you if the '25 starter is already here.

UGA got manhandled by ND. Probably because ND has more men. I counted 38 ND players with 3 or more years of CFB experience. # of true contributors? IDK. But UGA has 10 contributors with 3 or more years of CFB playing experience. Men vs boys? IDK but seemed that way.

Biggest culprit? Had to be OL. UGA started the year with, what we expected to be, 6 solid players. Of those 6, 4 were highly overrated and 2 were merely average. UGA could not run effectively. UGA QB's did not have enough time to throw like it had in '23.

How the UGA WR's regressed as much as they did in '24 is inexplicable. ASmith ALMOST dropped that 67 yard pass. THEN he almost fumbled it. DLovett looked like he checked out, playing afraid to get hurt. Wide open DBell (one of my favorite UGA players) dropping a long pass was inexcusable.

OC? There was a critical 3rd and 3 in the 2nd half. CMB called a dive play up the middle for (180 lb) Cash Jones. Of course it got stuffed. On 4th down he called a very low % fade pass. You know why ND was at the point of attack before UGA's O was? Because UGA's O is completely predictable based on formation and tendencies. That may work when you have a great OL but otherwise we saw how that works. Why CMB didn't move GS around in the pocket and give him more run/pass options is puzzling.

The UGA D? Not a typical UGA D. ILB's were invisible this year. If you watch the ND TD right before the half, from behind the QB, you see the ND QB throw the ball right over DJackson's head. What did Jackson do? Nothing. He didn't jump. He didn't raise his hands in an attempt to block pass or intercept. Nothing.

On the bright side, there are rave reviews coming in from the Under Amour AA game about Elijah Griffin. Dominant. He'll need to be.

Saw an article on David Pollock that said that UGA may have 35 players (currently 9) hit the TP. I guess we'll find out in the next couple days.

Nice Post, GD20. I agree with most of your observations, and the one regarding Men vs Boys was interesting. Didn't see that one, coming. Lol

However, as far as offensive predictability.....UGA had to run plays that Stockton could execute. While they had 3 weeks to prepare, I'm not sure all the key players were available to practice.

They were predictable...but, made up for it, by NOT executing the play. Blocking and tackling were atrocious...IMO. That's what led to ND keeping the ball and wearing out the defense.

I thought Walker and Company, got after it, pretty good. Walker lived up...IMO. So did Mondon and Stackhouse and a few other guys.

Other than occasional problems with their "tackling".…The defense looked pretty good, till they started wearing out. Cause, the dang offense couldn't move the ball on the ground...."consistently". Or, pass block..."effectively".

That's where "Complimentary Football" breaks down....IMO.

The offense that UGA ran for GS looked a lot like the offense UGA ran for CBeck. All the dive plays looked the same. The medium posts (down and in) to ASmith and DBell looked the same. Except for a very occasional pocket movement it all looked the same. GS threw 2 beautiful deep passes on the same plays that CBeck couldn't seem to hit.

That is the major problem with the UGA O. "We're not disguising anything, this is what we do we dare you to stop it" - CKS. If an opponent scouts the UGA O you see the same plays run out of the same formations over and over and over and… ND's back seven knew where the play was going pre-snap. Any well coached team does when the opponents offense is as predictable and limited as UGA's is.

It is difficult to "execute the play" when the defense knows where the ball is going. Blame that for losing the time of possession stat. BTW, ND only "won" the ToP stat by 3:34. You would think that with UGA's "depth", ND would've been the team to "wear out".

I'll give you that there was no Brock Bowers on this team. UGA fans were spoiled by BB. We took that guy for granted.

"they had 3 weeks to prepare". And the O came up with nothing new.
