@E_Roc...I get what you are saying. My point was that when we had divisions, the Dawgs were usually favored to win the East division. The SEC East usually had a much easier path to get to the SECCG. This season we actually lost to (2) teams that were in the SEC West division just last season. And we wouldn't have had to normally play either Bama or Ole Miss to win the SEC East. Sure, this season we won the SECCG, but now the path to the game and Championship just got a lot harder every season for every team.

I agree, I didn't explain my comment clearly enough, and I could have left the statement out altogether.

I totally agree with you and @Roman13 It’s possible though not probable that Kirby would fire Bobo. Among the folks at UGA, Bobo and Muschamp are probably Kirby’s closest friends.

So I think IF he could muster the strength and courage to do it firing Searls and Coley would be the best alternative. Now it’d be very hard for him to fire Coley to because I think their pretty close as well And Coley is a big help in recruiting.

I’m just speculating on All of this just my opinions. But I think Searls would be the least close in terms of friendship.

I echo what you said it would be tough, very tough to fire a real close friend. It’s easy for us to play video team on here. But firing a close friend could terminate that friendship.

Looking at Bobo on a hypothetical basis. Smart decides to fire him, but in Bobo’s own mind he feels he’s doing great. Well that friendship would probably end. It’d be different if Bobo or any other coach that Kirby decided to fire realized that they weren’t doing that well and maybe for the good of the team move on.

I’ll always wonder could Bobo have done at least some better which might have been Enough, had he had a Better O Line Coach and a Better WRs Coach.
Dawgs have only lost Four games in two Full and Post seasons play. That ain’t bad at all. But it’s inferior to the past Three seasons.

Speaking only For Me I’d be willing to give Bobo another year IF Kirby would go out and find an obviously better O Line Coach and an obviously better WRs Coach. Plus Kirby would need to have a Long possibly heated conversation with Bobo.

I wonder if in practices Kirby being a defensive mind ever tells Bobo I can and will beat allot of these plays your running, you need to do this and this and that ?? I wonder if such conversations take place ??

Guess it won’t be long and we’ll see what takes place. Go Dawgs !!

Gosh you and I are singing from the same hymnal this morning !! 🤣 I’ve said several times on other threads that To Me Kirby seems to Over Emphasize blocking skills from WRs.

I’m not saying they shouldn’t have Some blocking skills. But with Kirby it seems if you’re not excellent in blocking you don’t see the field. Remember DRob ?? He could catch the ball pretty good, ran good routes, got pretty decent separation etc. but sat on the bench for a year or more because he was subpar in blocking skills.

Now I get the need for really good blocking from TEs because of the nature of the plays, that is in most cases.

But when it comes to WRs, I’m like you I want them to be really good at their primary skill set which is getting separation, running smooth routes, and Catching the freaking ball !!

The last Truly, Truly elite receiver we had was AJ Green. But unfortunately he got injured. You could rank George Pickens up there to but he let his emotions get the best of him to often. There have been others Chris Conley. Of course T. Edwards. To Me Ladd McConkey was elite but unfortunately he to got hit with the injury bug. We’ll see how it goes…….

It seems that Searls would be the easiest on Kirby’s heart to fire. I’m not in their personal circle of friends. But with Bobo, Muschamp, Coley, Searls. I think Searls is the least close to Kirby. And of course there’s no need to fire Muschamp. If anything pay Muschamp more and get him back on the sideline as Co-DC with Schumann.

I've been in a few positions where I unfortunately had to fire people. But I do know this - if you let your personal relationships get in the way of doing the right thing, you are on a path to mediocrity. As a leader your obligation is to the organization, not your friendships.

100% on Coley. 100% on WR blocking. If Bobo would lay off all the tunnel screens, the WR blocking issue is greatly diminished. This could be one of the agenda items on Kirby's heated discussion with Bobo. Also, maybe simplify the schemes (O and D) so younger guys can get on the field and contribute earlier. It seems like our guys need 3 years of masters' level football knowledge in order to contribute.

Searls has to go given the underachievement of that group.

Marcus Freeman is a pretty good X's & O's coach…..what he excels at is motivation….on that score he is one hell of a great coach…..The Dawgs were defeated by a TEAM that was not as talented, not as deep and was more than willing to risk everything to win against the TEAM that had beaten them on the past 3 matchups, the TEAM with the best reputation and winning record in college football. The big lesson for Coach Freeman came at the hands of the Northern Illinois Huskies…he turned that defeat at home into a flame of want and desire that no one could extinguish…..of course a schedule of "want-a-bes, semi sometimes good teams and some cupcakes helped fuel the flame but come Sugar Bowl time, nothing or no one was going to deprive ND of the win. Marcus Freeman is also a Gambler…..when you have a TEAM that will EXECUTE or die tryin, gambles pay off more times than not….they sure did against The Dawgs and with every success, our hole got deeper and deeper……regretfully, some of our starters just went through the motions rather than "HUNKER DOWN" and in the eternal words of one of my favorite coaches, Erk Russell…."Attitude might be worth 80 percent of any athlete’s makeup.", "The best way to win a game is not to lose it"…..and "If you don't have the best of everything, make the best of everything you have"! Fire coaches????….we need coaches that bring back Erks attitude…..even if it means bloody foreheads before each game.

YES, YES, YES. 100%. And the young guys get on the field sooner. For example, you look at Nitro Tuggle's HS highlights (a real stud) and gets about 3 snaps this year (one was out of the blue vs. ND - that was probably a promise to get him back from the portal). No wonder the 5-stars have issues with UGA. Will be interesting to see if Nitro sticks it out with us.

  • navydawgnavydawg ✭✭✭✭✭ Graduate

Yep whole heartedly agree. I hope Tuggle will stick with the Dawgs he looks to have great potential. We’ve got allot of games this season where we Should be able to get the score up big and fast.

So I hope Kirby will get younger guys across the board in the game the second the Dawgs obviously have the game in hand. Really on Both sides of the ball. Real game snaps are vital to developing the younger guys.
