I'm always glad to beat Kentucky in roundball but Mike, you sound WAY too excited.
The upgrade in size (physicality) and depth (rotation) is making a difference in what has now become "a basketball conference". This won't be the only upset this year. If they can continue to build chemistry and stay healthy, these hardcourt dogs could make a significant amount of noise. Go Dawgs!
Coach White has done an amazing job with this team. UGA Basketball is actually fun to watch again..GoDAWGS!
Mike, don't crown this team as champions yet. Just 1-1 in sec play so far.
Another GREAT @MikeGriffith article… this time on BBall!!! Don't know what it is, but this 2024/25 MG combination of hard-hitting facts, well-considered insights, openness about issues, and then enthusiasm about the possibilities looking forward is a winning hand and I love it, whatever the sport.
On round-ball, as a Dukie, @lucydog I can tell you that anytime you beat Kentucky, no matter what the season or their ranking (though they were still #6 here, Dawgs unranked at the time), it's a BIG deal, especially double digits. UK has the highest winning percentage of any Div 1 BBall team (76%*), the most SEC championships (32), and second most NCAA tournament championships (8… only UCLA higher, thanks to John Wooden plus smaller tournament sizes back then).
So, no matter what happens going forward (certainly hoping this becomes a trend, not a one-off), Tuesday night was a BIG deal 😁💪🎇
