Marcus Freeman leads Notre Dame to historic victory, Irish squeeze by Penn State in Orange Bowl
Notre Dame football returned to a championship level on Thursday night, it’s Leprechaun mascot dancing deep into a historic night at Hard Rock Stadium.

Heck of a game...could have gone either way, but the 3rd and final interception of the night (2 previous picks called back due to penalties)- baited Allar to throw it - finally proved the Lions undoing. The better QB won in the end, and the more resilient team has now beaten (3) highly ranked teams in a row. Time to start giving the Irish some respect. Freeman and his team deserve it.
congrats to ND for winning and PSU for making that possible
James Franklin didn't throw that pass over the middle late.
I see the Irish as the consumate overachievers. And the best coached team I've seen in a couple of years. They truly play as a one. THey're not going to beat you with receivers flying open down the field but with precision and tenacity. Riley Leonard is a warrior and shows with a good defense, a good ground game and a running QB you can still go a long way in College football. It's a thing to behold when everyone both on offense and defence is giving their all. They are hungry and they believe in each other. THey don't make bonehead mistakes. THey don't talk smack that I could tell and several times I saw their players help Penn players up off the ground. Hard not to like a team like that.
I wish we had played like they played. THis bracket of the playoffs was set up for us IMO. Both Notere Dame and Penn St were winnable games provided we played our best. We didn't. Too much to ask a rookie QB to lead us to a championship without a run game to help him out alot. Things dream are made of.
Now is there defense stout enough to stop Ohio St? We will see.
I was glad that Notre Dame pulled this one out. I personally dislike Penn State more than the Irish. And true to fashion, they were getting a lot of credit for doing essentially nothing this year. They played two decent teams prior to the playoffs and lost to them both. They compiled a good record and reached a high ranking by looking a little less mediocre than their opposition throughout the year, got to the semi-finals by beating SMU and Boise, and then got bounced by the third good team they played all year. Classic nittany. Glad they're out.
Drew Allar seemed tentative all night. Think the moment was too big for him.
Much as I really really hate to say this but: Go Horns beat OSU then go beat ND. Cheering this while firing off a real cheap bottle rocket. Whew look at those fireworks. 😬
