Bo Walker: Why the 4-star RB with the 5-star name will benefit from Trevor Etienne’s NFL move
Why freshman RB Bo Walker can benefit from Trevor Etienne's move to the NFL

All I can say is welcome to SEC football, Bo!
Another running back fighting for his life. We don’t have a wall. The OL continues to get worse year after year. Apparently nothing will change this coming year either.
He sounds really good. Hope he flourishes at UGA. Rabun Gap-Naccoochee is five minutes drive from our home. As I understand it very prestigious private school. I kinda kept an eye on their schedule.
Also Rabun County HS which is Gunner Stockton’s HS. I can imagine Walker enjoying his time the school looks Beautiful though I haven’t actually toured it or anything. We moved up here July will be three years ago.
But yeah All our RBs will need at least pretty decent blocking to have sustained success. Ultra rare people like Herschel or Emmett etc. could make it with sub par O Line but These days in the SEC you’ve Got to have good O Line play. Let’s hope they pick it up.
Jeff Sentell right on queue with a hype article about a RB on the heels of the ETN announcement.
Walker sounds about the same size as ETN. With a name like Bo Walker he sounds like he comes right out of central casting. I think he'll be okay and a good player at UGA in time.
“When the ball is in your hand, you should look desperate, you know, I mean like, your life depends on you getting in that end zone,” Crawford told DawgNation.. Every time I read that quote from UGA RB coach Crawford I shake my head. The only time a RB should be desperate is when he runs out of space and is about to be tackled. Desperate to get a couple extra yards and fall forward. Maybe in 4th and short or goal.
One of the most (THE most?) important traits a RB can have is vision. If you are running desperate you are not running with vision. Emmitt Smith was mentioned. THAT was maybe the biggest, best trait with Smith. Uncanny vision. He just had a feel for where the least resistance was. Tony Dorsett's nickname was Hawkeye for his great running vision. Steeler RB LeVion Bell was notorious for pausing after the handoff to pick the hole to hit. After an 860 yd rookie season, Bell had 1200+ yds rushing in 3 of his next 4 seasons. I read that Jim Brown was the same way. Vision not desperation.
“Great Wall of Georgia” - nope.
Isn't that school close to Tullulah Falls? I remember seeing the sign for the school, but like you, i have memory lapses due to age and can't remember where I saw the sign for Rabun Gap Nacoochee school.
Le' Veon was fun to watch, he'd hesitate at the Line, you're sure he's going to be tackled for a minimal gain but he hits the gap and breaks off a quick 7-8 yard run. His vision and patience were unbelievable.
Yep, now that WR is no longer a concern for us (we have the quantity of bodies at least) with a VERY promising QB, RB + OL is and should be a #1 topic. Being "RBU" for many years showed me that it's often not about the player but the support around him. We've had some of the best RB in the country and even they couldn't run if the other elements weren't there. If you can't pass, you can't run because trying to run when they are ready for it is nearly impossible. "Loading the box" ends RB runs and if the defense knows you aren't going to pass, then it doesn't matter what is called.
I grew up one county away in Nacoochee, GA. the old Boarding school in nacoochee burnt in the 1910s and they combined the schools. We used to play them annually in basketball. But that was before the tourist growth in the mountains put several of the schools in larger divisions. RGNS is a beautiful campus and thanks to Jeff I now know their football schedule is top notch.
Great Wall of Georgia?—Must've missed it. Let's hope we can reclaim elite play on the OL and give Mr. Walker some room to get open!!
It’s just barely outside the city limits of Dillard, Ga. which is right beside the GA/NC state lines. I live less than two miles from NC. It’s not that far north of Tallulah Falls. Some of the campus buildings sit on a high hill just beside Hwy. 441.
Both my wife and I are from GA. all our lives. But we’re from gnat country !! I’m originally from Lauren’s County, my wife from Dooly County. It’s absolutely Beautiful up here !! And the vast majority of people here are So friendly. Plus No gnats 🤣.
People up here are Just As passionate about football including HS football as I’ve seen anywhere in the state. I have an indirect connection to Gunner though I’ve never personally met him. I’d rather not disclose how ( nothing bad).
Been through here countless times but never dreamed the Good Lord would open the door for us to actually live here. The folks here are Very proud of their HS football programs and there for Insist that those programs be very competitive. When I say that I’m not just referring to Rabun County, but the whole area. Bottom line there’s some great football DNA coming from this area !!
Good old Dublin GA! Now that you say that, I remember seeing Rabun Gap Nacoochee school on 1 of my Sunday drives in the mountains long ago. I'm from Athens, born and raised there until i was 21 or so. I have baby pictures of me in black and white, standing under the bridges on the bypass at the Danielsville/Athens Tech exit. The bypass towards Athens Tech and Madison county was still dirt after you went around what I call a cloverleaf and went under the 2 bridges, and ended there, and the Atlanta Hwy/GaSquare Mall/Winder exit, until it was completed many years later from Hull Rd to Atlanta Hwy exit for the mall to form what is now loop 10. Athens grew too big, too fast for me. So like you, I headed to the country also, and i don't regret a minute of that decision.

I agree, you have to have those quiet eyes. Not panicked. I don't know if you watched the Viking - Rams and the Commanders-Tampa Bay games, but what a contrast in the eyes of the two QB's. Darnold looking like he was panicking, I got stressed just watching his facial expressions and Daniels looking like he was walking through the park on a lazy summer day.
Just my humble opinion but I don’t think facial expressions for the RB position mean much at all. Other than maybe Frustration that the O Line is not doing their job. And I think you can have Good or Bad vision without very much regard to facial expressions.
As far as size we’ve had RBs of similar height and weight that were Awesome backs at UGA. I look at his HS work and what the coaches at UGA can Build on. I doubt he’ll be Herschel or Emmett or any of the very top 10 historically in the NFL. Let’s face it those folks are Extremely rare.
What I Hope for out of Walker IF he even gets many snaps as a freshman is just solid blue collar work in his first year. Now in his second year in Dawgs S/C program Yes I’d expect more. Just like I expect more from Frazier this year. Hopefully the S/C will help remedy Frazier’s fumble problems by building his upper body strength so rival defenders can’t as easily **** the ball out. Also Frazier will probably work on his patience as Kirby pointed that out.
Frazier to me has Huge potential. as UGA has for many years now run the by committee I doubt we’ll see and 1,500 yd per season RBs at least for now.
Though I can appreciate a certain measure of censorship in a forum of This nature this site has gone Way over board. The word s t r I p was censored. That’s just getting carried away in my opinion.
