Final Coaches Poll Top 25 rankings released for 2024 season, Kirby Smart’s ballot revealed

Ohio State ended the season on top by beating Notre Dame on Monday night.

You know, if you only beat a team once but they advanced further in the playoffs, maybe I put that team ahead but when the only team to beat them did it twice? I’m sorry but playoffs mean jack. Georgia was clearly better than texas and their weak schedule.
Wow !! Kirby was the only Coach to get it right !!
To show the discrepancies between coaches..some had UGA high as #4 while others had UGA at #8 or lower, behind ASU and Boise State..are these clowns actually serious? Shows these polls are based on nothing more than biased opinions.
Air Force coach actually had the DAWGS at #4, ahead of Texas and pedo state.
"The Big Ten had 4 teams ranked."
There are 5 Big 10 teams ranked Connor: Illinois, Indiana, Penn State, Oregon and Ohio State.

Yes, Georgia is better than Texas (because of specific matchups that are another story for another day). But polls don't consist of comparing teams head-to-head. Instead, they try to determine which teams would beat the most other teams and rank them accordingly. And they believe that Texas would beat more teams than Georgia would.
Why? They believe that both teams have very good but not great defenses, though they would rate the UGA defense better. But they believe that Texas has a much better offense. Not a great offense. Wisner, Blue, Golden and Helm aren't in the same class as the squad at Ohio State. But the Texas WRs and TEs could separate from defenses and didn't come close to being the national leaders in dropped passes. And their RBs Wisner and Blue outperformed Etienne and Frazier by a good margin.
So, no one believes that Texas would have lost to Notre Dame. Likewise, no believes that a UGA team where Cash Jones made the only offensive play that mattered against Notre Dame would have beaten Penn State or Oregon.
As I stated..all are opinion choices by different individuals. Absolutely no hard facts to substantiate their decisions, only opinions, and assumptions.
we beat Texas twice and rank behind them. sigh
@benzone
Everything you said is all fine and good but polls such as this are purely opinion based on how far did they go. texas went one game deeper in the playoffs because they faced an inferior team. It does not matter who had more drops or WR separation. UGA faced texas twice and beat them twice. texas’ “much better” offense lost…..twice.
The fact remains, UGA beat texas and was the clearly better team. That is not opinion based on “what if”. It is an actual fact overlooked by oblivious voters, which was the point in calling out the hypocrisy of these polls and the actual lack of knowledge about what happened.
Not so fast there navydawg…..You and I and all of Dawg Nation know that he placed us behind The Ducks out of deference to his #1 student Dan….but that's ok, DL's a great coach, but we would have risen to the occasion and won a match up…IMHO.
Rankings are subjective to various degrees. The sober truth is that this year's team just didn't have the cohesion or the luck in some cases to win out. Great that they won the SEC, but we have to admit we actually backed into the SEC championship game after three other teams lost the week that they could have pushed us out of the game. I personally believe that there was lock room friction this year, particularly on the offensive side, and I do think that our OC and some of his assistants would best serve our future if they went away this winter and were replaced with more capable coaches. So since we didn't win during the CFP, it really doesn't matter if we were above or below Texas etc. As Kirby Smart says, winning solves all those problems. Looking ahead to the future, I really hope that the NIL skewing of college football can be destroyed before it just becomes a NFL farm system. I predict that college football will start to lose readership and revenue starting in 2025 if they do not get a handle on NIL and the new mercenary mindset of college football players.
