- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

What we learned about the Georgia football roster after our Way-Too-Early depth charts
ATHENS — The transfer portal has closed for the moment and Georgia knows which players will be moving on and which will be back in Athens for the 2025 season.

Kirby should run against his own grain, take a chance and give the incredibly talented young pups playing time much sooner and with greater frequency. That might enable their elite skills to shine sooner, could decrease the likelihood of them leaving the program, and won't require significantly more learning time than portals who have more college experience but have less upside and don't know the playbook any better. Go Dawgs!
Skill talent is in a better place than it was in 2025
Uh…2025? we haven't played yet!
Editing is having issues….again.
DN mistakes in editing are like shampooing your hair….Lather, Rinse, Repeat, Lather, Rinse, Repeat…
mighty optimistic report
As for the wide receiver room, there’s talent in the room. But we were saying the same thing a year ago.
No "we" weren't. Anyone who saw that group struggle in 2023 when Bowers and McConkey were absent or not 100% knew that WR was going to be a problem in 2024. Including Kirby Smart, who hit the transfer portal for Young, Humphries and Yurosek, but getting guys with average stats from middling programs to play for a title contender didn't work (as expected).
Coming into the season I was hoping for UGA to get back to running the ball the way that they did in 2016, 2018 and 2019 (2017 was unrealistic) in order to force the safeties in the box to create space for the WRs and TEs outside because I knew that UGA had complimentary pieces catching the ball that weren't going to be able to make plays on their own. But thanks to the Robinsons being hurt, Frazier being forced into action a year too early and Etienne remaining the same player that he was in Gainesville, the running game was an even bigger letdown than the passing game.
That said, there are legitimate reasons to think that UGA is going to have a capable WR room in 2024.
Mostly a lot of young, inexperienced players with stars by their names…a majority have not been seriously tested on the battlefield…if at all. That's a legitimate concern.
Our offensive line is going to be a major cause for concern. Expecting a bunch of young guys, who are not ranked nearly as high as the guys Pittman and Luke brought in, to give Stockton time to throw is going to be an issue.
@benzone "hit the transfer portal for Young, Humphries and Yurosek, but getting guys with average stats from middling programs". Certainly that statement is a bit of an over-exaggeration regarding Young and Yuroseks stat's and the Miami program in general.
In 2 prior years at Stanford, Yurosek averaged 46 receptions and 550 yards per season. Prior to joining UGA Young had 47 receptions for 563 yards in '23. Even Humphreys averaged 20 ypr on 22 receptions in '23. Hardly "middling" numbers.
UGA's offense was impacted negatively by a bunch of factors. Mostly unrelated to actual skill. Young chose to make a terrible (criminal?) decision that took him completely out of the picture after 5 games. Injuries at RB and to an extent on the OL had a big impact on the effectiveness of the offense. Without the unexpected and unprecedented number of dropped passes, the '24 offense looks a lot different and more productive. Even CBeck did not look as sharp in '24 as in '23 regardless of the degree of WR separation. Add in the subtraction of RaRa Thomas.
When it takes 8 OT's and 44 pts to narrowly beat GT it could be argued that the defense had a bigger negative impact on the season than the offense did.
"That said, there are legitimate reasons to think that UGA is going to have a capable WR room in 2024." Right, just like people were saying last year.
