    Probably didn’t want to have to earn his spot on the O line. I’m sure he was told on a visit that he’d have to work and practice hard. Have fun playing in half full stadiums.

    I remember Coach Searels during the Richt years. We never had a dominant Oline during his tenure and I don't remember any great recruits he brought to Athens. The Oline quality has also regressed during his stay here….

    It's pro now.

    The corruption is right around the corner.

    Accept it or find something else to do on Saturday

    I honestly thought we lost a good one here with Cantwell, but…if money is THE factor, good riddance. Once I saw Miami in the mix…I said uh oh…and was right.

    We will lose if it comes down to money, all day long. Plus, Seaerls is not the best position coach. We can do better - and should.

    Kirby—"note to self"—must teach Jared (1)Playbook (2)Leadership(3)the UGA Standard(4)how to successfully recruit offensive linemen. (This is meant to be humorous—don't get your panties in a **** vote down man). We'll be just fine—we've lost other O Linemen to big pockets. GO DAWGS

    Upon further reflection (and watching the footage a few times), I’m not entirely convinced that this was the kid’s decision. He was super hasty and uncomfortable. Doesn’t really matter now. Just wanted to point that out.

    I think that was a factor in his decision. Miami has a pretty good OL coach known for his player development and the guy can recruit.

    He'll hit the portal in 1 to 2 years; we'll see him again.

    Agree Mobile Dawg. I didn’t like the Searels hire from the get go. He was mediocre under Coach Richt and at UNC. We clearly need a new OL coach. That opinion is not based on this so-called miss on Cantwell. We’re better off without spending $2,000,000 on a high school kid who might be great, but might not. Just can’t spend that kind of money on one high school player imo.
    As I said earlier, I wish Jackson well, but am also relieved we didn’t spend that much money on him.

    This is worse than the NFL. The NFL has contracts. These college kids can transfer to another college anytime they want; just continue chasing the money. One more observation: I think the parents made this decision. They saw a new house and early retirement in their near future.

    The bullet we dodged is bigger than first thought. Now the young man is saying it wasn’t really the money. Oooookaaaayyy… let’s think about that claim:

    1. Best conference - we can argue about whether it’s the Big 10 or the SEC, but it ain’t the ACC;
    2. Best college town - Coral Gables not on that list. Athens is;
    3. Best campus environment - UGA higher on that list;
    4. Game day environment - OSU, Oregon and UGA all fantastic, with Miami having dismal game day environment with a stadium less than half full;
    5. Best opportunity for player development in practice and against superior game-day competition - OSU, Oregon, and UGA clearly ahead of The U.
    6. Academics - While I don’t know about Oregon, both OSU and UGA rated very high.
    7. Opportunity to compete for national championships - how obvious is this?

    One could go on and on, but Miami wins one, and only one, category - MONEY.

    SO…to hear a denial of the decision, negotiated by a big time agent, isn’t about the MONEY, rings hollow.
    Go get us DGDs Kirby! GO DAWGS!

    I wonder what comes next for him too - if he plays. Where will he ACTUALLY play in ‘26? Or ‘27? What about ‘28? Does he play college at all in ‘29, and if so, where? 3-4 years. A question mark for each one—-maybe more if you count the spring!
