The end of Jan to the first of Feb seems right to me. The playoffs are over (thus, less potential for manipulating players from outside and disrupting playoff teams). That leaves plenty of time for them to settle in their new home and start their training.

What's your alternative? Kirby said that's the players preference. Seems that they have the greatest stake in this. Less outside interference during playoffs also has merit.

  • Move the start of the season up one month.
ESD is Aug 1-3. NSD stays the same.

Football season ends earlier. Non playoff teams can have a two week portal window. Playoff teams players can enter once their team has been eliminated and have the same two weeks. Season ends around New Year’s Day. Championship game participants would have a chance to transfer and actual ATTEND CLASS in spring semester.

Then after NSD weekend we have a dead period for recruiting until April 15. Open recruiting until June 30 and then dead period until kickoff.

Mr Moderator, what would be the problem…..if you're a D-1 football player that enters the portal, I have to assume you have aspirations of a NFL career…missing a semester is the last thing on your mine. So your plan would disrupt the whole year to accommodate a few individuals who will never graduate on time, if they graduate at all.

  • so you’re ok with college sports being more like pro sports Mr. The Greek?
