Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

I believe it was Trevor, then Deshaun and Gunner in that order that has held the record - could be wrong.
Nonetheless, good company for Gunner to be in. He definitely has the tools to succeed.
Idunno about the Kirby not thinking he’d be starting with a qb who hasn’t thrown any passes thing. We did open 2019 with D’Wan Mathis who, if I remember correctly, had basically zero in-game experience, before Bennett had to step in.
Agree an all points related to the Laundry Detergent.
i notice in your list I found zero QBs mentioned.
And I’ve never explicitly stated I was not a Gunner fan. I’m just wanting to see more info before crowning him. People in the article commenting threads speak of him as if he’s the next Fran Tarkenton.
If you can’t handle someone challenging your opinions and discussing all aspects of college football, maybe you should go back to just reading the articles rather than commenting on them for a while.
correct on Mathis. Jamie Newman put the team behind the 8ball that summer and left Kirby scrambling. JT Daniels wasn’t cleared yet, Carson was a true freshman, and Monken was not a fan at all of Stetson.
@Kasey "and Monken was not a fan at all of Stetson"
WHich is why I have said many times that choosing the right QB out of a group of guys is hardly an exact science. I seem to remember Joe Burrow leaving Ohio St. because he wasn't going to play. 2 years later he's perhaps the best college QB ever. THe old ball coaches just didn't see them coming.
hah well there was a pretty stacked room at Ohio. And it took a year for Joe to become Joe. Which I suppose inadvertently proves your point.
Pretty sure no one has "crowned" him on here. I certainly haven't said he's the "next Fran Tarkenton". I have said his HS highlights reminded me of a young Brett Farve though. Key words, "reminded me", there is a big difference between that and being a Brett Farve.
I also pointed out the similarities of the two. Of course he has to prove it on the field first, college and pro… they all do. You are reading way too much into things and taking exception.
Again, small towns and small HS divisions have nothing to do with talent, other than maybe in total numbers. And nobody intentionally avoided QB's, just gave you examples of talent. But there certainly have been quite a few OB's that have come from small towns. Our very own Stetson Bennett comes to mind, so did Josh Allen, Troy Aikman, Steve McNair, Archie Manning, Jay Cutler and I am sure many more.
Hopefully, Gunner will be a successful one also.
fair enough
All I can say for now and be sure about it is I Hope Gunner will lead our Dawgs to Glory. I Believe this whole Team will end up being better than allot of folks outside of Dawgs fans think. But we’ll have to wait and see.
I want to Thank You to All my fellow Dawgs fans about the condolences and thoughts on the passing away of my cousin. Means Allot to me.
I’ve been watching CFB most of my 68 years of life but there’s still So, So much that I Don’t know. I enjoy reading your comments and I learn many times from them. I also enjoy the passion that so many of you have for Dawgs football. This is my “ feel good and feel at home” site to come to. Even when our Dawgs lose at least I’ve got folks I can come and share the misery with. But it’s really Great to come here when our Dawgs win a big game !! I can feel the excitement and joy here !! I wish All of you and your families a Great and Safe Summer. No injuries to any of our players please !! God Bless You All !! Go Dawgs !!
