Gunner Stockton knows he needs to be a more confident, explosive as Georgia football QB

ATHENS â Gunner Stockton did not have a negative impact on Saturdayâs game. He didnât turn the ball over and completed 76% of his passes for 227 yards in a 28-6 win over Austin Peay.

Gunner took a big hit on one play in the second quarter. It looked similar to the one Carson got injured on and it was obvious that he was hurt. I didn’t see him attempt a pass downfield after that play.
Gunner needs to step aside and admit he is not a good college QB. JimDawg85, he never attempts passes beyond 20 yards. He cannot see the field or process the defense. He watches open receivers with 3 steps on the D and checks down, he has crap velocity beyond 10 yards, he makes poor running decisions, he flushes out of the pocket if he sees a shadow, he stares at receiver. Garbage. He is not the leader we were led to believe he is. Practice warrior, at best.
Conner, you can try but there ain't enough lipstick in the entire Maybelline universe to cover this porker's lips. It doesn't matter how much his teammates like him or how much praise his OC reigns down on him, you either got the chops or you don't. He don't.
Many of the same harsh comments were said many times, right here on DN by quite a few Dawgs fans about Stetson Bennett. The Mailman that helped our Dawgs ( and himself) to win B2B Ntl. Titles. Just went back and looked at his stats and he to had some times where things didn’t go very well. But he won games and come through in the clutch.
Dawgs have two wins with Gunner at the helm That said maybe the Vols will spank our britches in Knoxville or maybe they won’t. But I think it’s far too early to praise or criticize Gunner after only two games. Wish I could go back and copy & paste some of the harsh comments said about Stets back at the time. But he came through for our Dawgs. I’m Hoping and Believing that Gunner can to.
The O Line needs to give their absolute best to support him. And that starts with Coach Searls. And Mike Bobo needs to make play calls that play to Gunner’s strengths and down play his weaknesses. Bobo has Not done that thus far.
Even when Pugs went in Bobo didn’t really give him a chance either. Laterals and hand offs with only one pass down field. That’s Not on Pugs that’s on Bobo’s play calling.
@shamymax So you think things would be better if his teammates Didn’t like him ? That would make for better team chemistry. And just for info. Kirby Smart is the Head Coach not the OC. And I figure Kirby has his reasons for playing Gunner. I figure trusting Kirby about players is much better than fan’s opinions.
way to early to sell your GunnerS stock. That being said, dink and swing passing game ain’t gonna cut it against real competition. I love his leadership skills and team engagement, unlike Beck last year, but He needs to step up this week physically and show that he’s ready for the moment. If not, I can see now why there was so much talk about Puglisi pushing GS for the starting spot, kid seems to see the field, get thru his progressions a little better, and has a cannon of an arm albeit in limited action. I’m not ready to give up on GS, he’s earned this opportunity to lead our dawgs! Time to get it rolling young man…
Two things I noticed yesterday. The Oline was ineffective at pass protection and Gunner regressed in his check downs from 1st to 2nd game. I am concerned with all the short throws, while effective yesterday, could make future defenses load the box and hurt the running game. All that said, until we play a meaningful game, we just don't know what Gunner, Bobo and the Oline are capable of.
So the Head Coach who has not, to date, named Gunner Stockton his “QB1” wishes Gunner would have more confidence in his downfield passing attack. Has Kirby assured Gunner that it won’t affect his status (whatever that is) if he throws a pic while pushing the ball downfield? The same HC who didn’t criticize Beck for throwing 9 pics in 3 games, is critical of Gunner, who has ZERO pics, because he ain’t letting it fly downfield.
Ryan Puglisi needs some real playing time, not mop-up and the end of the game. I think he will prove to be the better quarterback. He looked very sharp in his limited play against Marshall. One thing about Nick Saban, he never shied away from playing the best player, and never worried about hurt feelings. Pulling Galen Hurts in the championship game against Ga. proved that, and Alabama won. Puglisi needs to start a game.
was that a regular season game when Nick pulled JALEN Hurts?
