WOW. I'll take that bet!!
well since UGA seldom covers the spread. Thus is a pick-em game. Until I see otherwise, will not bet against a Kirby team. So Dawgs by 2. Which will involve a missed 2 point conversion. 25-27 dawgs.
win ****, win pretty - they all count the same.
Interesting Smart attributed the slow start against the Govs in part to the hot weather. Maybe it was a sideline interview, but I remember years ago when we went to Columbia and beat the Gamecocks on a really hot day, Smart was asked how they handled the Gamecocks and the heat, and he said we love the heat. So… is our conditioning lacking now? Because if so, that doesn’t bode well for Knoxville.
We're favored? You can't make this stuff up!
UGA has a tendency not to cover RIDICULOUS spreads, but that’s not the case for spreads in general.
Still…
I wouldn’t argue with your projection. My brother foresees a loss, and he’s never quick to do so, and is rarely wrong when he does. Even still, I think he’s missing a little bit as far as what the offense is capable of, and our D is NOT Syracuse or East TN.
I DO see the Vols coming into this one a little over-confident, which may be their downfall. Until I see an actual gel and an imposition of will from our O-Line, I’m going to worry for Gunner every game.
Does he need to slow down? Yes. Has he been given an opportunity to slow down? Not after the third play of game 1…
Montana, how much you gonna put down?
In my humble opinion you hit the nail and drove it through the board ! Gunner needing to slow down I’m talking about in agreement with you.
It’d drilled into QBs heads Don’t Take A Sack !! I think he has 2-3 receivers that have mentally become his favorites, guys he feels the Most confident in. So instead of scanning the whole field Properly he does a very quick scan But zeroing in on those Favorite receivers !! So another receiver that he trusts a little less Gets wide open but he’s so busy looking for one of those favorites he doesn’t see the wide open guy !!
I think this is happening on a subconscious level. I Don’t think that he’s saying to himself that unless one of my favs is open I’m not gonna throw the ball !! NO !! This is happening on a subconscious level. KS is telling him Trust Your O Line. OK how many of Us would trust This O Line ? Especially if you have wheels to make a positive play or at a minimum escape the dreaded sack that Coach doesn’t like ?
KS telling him he needs to build his confidence. OK that’s true. BUT the O Line needs to provide him the Time to Properly scan the field for the Open receiver or receivers plural not just the ones he’s developed a mental confidence in.
I’m definitely not a coach or an expert or football guru. But I believe this is fixable. But it boils down to Gunner trusting the O Line who in turn gives him good reason to Trust them by providing better time.
I’m not giving up on the Dawgs Offense or Gunner at least at this point I’m not.
We’ve All seen times where our Dawgs struggled against inferior opponents only to come back and put a stomping on a much more competitive opponent. Maybe the Vols got themselves a heaping helping of rat poison by stomping the cupcake, where as our Dawgs got embarrassed and will be seeking redemption. Let’s Hope !! Go Dawgs !!
Dawgs..........45
Tennessee....10
And, then....They believe! Lol..."I could stick my head up a bull's ass to pick my steak...But, I'd much rather take the Butcher's word for it.". Has Kirby ever let us down?
Why do you think he appears so confident. He knows the cards he's holding back. C'mon UGA Fans...where's your faith. Lol
If they can at least get Gaston back, for the Game Saturday....the Dawgs are gonna run all over the Vols. I wasn't real impressed with Greene at LT the other day. But, he provides leadership and stability to the right side...to allow Freshman Gaston to play and gain experience.
And, I predict 3 Tennessee turnovers resulting in 17 UGA points.
Go Dawgs!!!
@navydawg.... Remember Kirby's words, Navy? "If it ain't broke...make it better.".
Well....that's what he's been doing for the last 2 weeks.…training for a long, grueling schedule. And, hopefully staying healthy.
I'm thinking, that keeping Greene & Gaston on the sidelines Saturday was more about precaution....as well as allowing for 2 more guys to work with the 1's for a while.
It's all about teaching, health and team chemistry....till they get to Knoxville.
This weekend, I expect Kirby to uncharacteristically...knock some dust off the playbook and put on a show for the entire world. They will probably unveil Bobo's real offense...unless, they don't NEED to.
Meaning Tennessee can't stop em on the ground. If that happens...not much passing will take place on the UGA side. Just enough to keep em off balance with MAYBE, 2 or 3 shots down the field.
Time to advertise your program to the up and coming youth of the world. They need to know. Lol
In the words of Forrest Gump..Georgia is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you will get😂. Take away the 2 turnovers and that horrendous goal line disaster before halftime and the AP game is a total blow out. Proud of the defense for that goal line stance. The offense showed flashes of what it could be with that long drive.
" Remember Kirby's words, Navy? "If it ain't broke...make it better."….Thanks for the reminder BigDawg, cause that's what's happening this week in The House of Payne and at Butts-Mehre thanks to our VGHCF…..very good head coach friend, Fran Brown…..his Orangemen lost to The Vols because of a lack of defense…..Aguilar ran his happy little azz around slinging balls for 247yds & 3 TDs and their RBs racked up 246yds rushin and 2 TDs…..however, The Orangeman, Angeli passed for 274yds while the RBs gained103yds rushing…..now that tells me The Hounddog secondary was a wee bit porous and their D-Line, with, execution, can be opened…….The Dawgs will beat the spread, win the game and cause a massive Knoxville Gnashing of teeth thanks to our VGHCF, superior talent and offensive & defensive execution…..POUND the rock, then take shots, stop the runs, and pressure Aguilar…..I predict 4-5 sacks
has Kirby let us down? No.
Has Bobo? Rhetorical question.
On the one hand we have Kirby who calls off the dogs when the score is outrageous—on the other hand you have Josh Heupel who is still slinging it in the fourth quarter when the Vols are up 42-7. He loves to score as many as he can so they can look impressive—-Little Man Syndrome?
Lol..."we're" assuming it's Bobo, that let us down. Whenever...
I know for a fact, it was Mark Richt that didn't call a TO before the final play of 2012 and, cost em a Championship(?). However...Bobo had one of the best and most efficient offenses in CFB at the time.
And, it was Richt that wanted to kick a squib kick against Tech...that got em beat. I just can't think of anything Bobo did wrong.....that I KNOW he did wrong...that cost em more than a few points.
While he is accused of conservative play-calling...
Imo....His play-calling always matches his personnel and the situation. Unless, there's a personnel shortage....as there was, last year. Then.…you just do the best you can to match everybody up, right....and, roll the dice, when the opportunity presents itself.
But.…you don't roll the dice down the field in desperation, if you don't HAVE TO. You bide your time and allow your great Defense to do it's job....provided they aren't shorthanded, as well.
Lol...last year was a one-off, imo....in that there wasn't a position group that wasn't negatively impacted by the injury bug.
That isn't the planning or execution that a Coordinator...or, head coach desires...but, sometimes it's necessary. When you have a Defense like UGA's....it's RARELY necessary to "open up the offense". Sometimes...that's how you lose…as well as win.
Imo....It's a gamble that Kirby and Bobo don't NEED to take...till, maybe the CFP.
Go Dawgs!!!
