Matthew Stafford joins elite list of 60,000-yard NFL passers embodies Georgia toughness

This is so cool to read about all the success of our past leaders! Keep making us proud out there on Sundays boys!
Typo again. 10,000 yards? Really?
I'm amazed at the constant typos. I re-read every email before I send. Point of pride. Not that hard.
Matthew Stafford—"Borderline Hall of Famer"—Borderline? If Matthew Stafford isn't headed to the Hall of Fame, something is wrong with the selection process!
yeah that’s a funny adjective. Stafford is a first ballot HOFer (or should be).
@Kasey I thought that was an interesting thing for the Houston GM to say …. my guess is Stafford heard or read that —- and stuck it up Houston's tail with the win
@lucydog and @Kasey
@MikeGriffith picked an odd time to not depict things through UGA-colored glasses as usual. (The guy still claims that UGA should have been in the 2018 4 team playoff even though they would have finished #3 in the SEC West division that year AND Bama was blown out in the title game.) Then again @MikeGriffith enrages UGA fans by giving a more realistic appraisal of Stetson Bennett IV's NFL prospects - which one should still be circumspect about as the Rams have dutifully avoided bringing in a draft pick or experienced young veteran to actually compete with him for a roster spot (no, teams mostly do not try every trick in the book shield 4th round draft pick QBs from any hint of meaningful competition for a roster spot as the Rams have with SB IV … contrast the Bucs' treatment of second round pick Kyle Trask, who beat SB IV and UGA in 2020, and note how Trask's NFL career is already basically over) but that will change in 2026 as both his and Stafford's contracts expire after that season - so maybe he is a bit more honest with QBs.
Anyway, @MikeGriffith is right, even if "borderline" is a bit much. Consider Eli Manning: similar stats (57,000 yards, and remember Manning played 16 years to Stafford's 18 and counting) but Manning has 2 Super Bowl wins to Stafford's 1, 2 Super Bowl MVPs to Stafford's 0 (Cooper Kupp got the MVP) and a better playoff record (8-4 vs 5-5) as Stafford has four 1st round exits and a 2nd round exit. Yet Eli Manning wasn't a 1st ballot HOFer and more than a few reputable people claim that he simply isn't HOF material.
Another example: Kurt Warner. He had to wait until the 3ird ballot despite going to 3 Super Bowls with 2 franchises (Cardinals, Rams) that had been absolutely wretched for decades before he got there. No, he didn't have 60,000 career yards but not his fault: he was stuck in the Arena League until he was 27 and didn't start an NFL game until he was 28. Stafford started at age 21 and had 25,600 passing yards and 2 playoff trips before he reached the age that Warner was when Warner started his first game. Warner also had 2 League MVP awards to Stafford's 0.
Again, borderline is a bit much, as the 60,000 passing yards alone assures it (even if Vinny Testaverde, whose passing yards didn't get him into the Hall, disagrees). But Stafford will need to win another Super Bowl before he is even in the discussion for being first ballot. And yes, his successor Jared Goff going to Detroit and having much more team success than Stafford did ruins the "but nobody wins in Detroit, not even Billy Sims and Barry Sanders!" argument, sadly.
I remember when my dad used to think Matthew Stafford would not make a good NFL QB!! I wish he was still alive to see how well Stafford has progressed in his career. Go Dawgs!!
