It was the first time Georgia had scored first against a Power 4 conference opponent in nearly a year to the date in Sanford Stadium (Oct. 5, 2024, in a 31-13 win over Auburn) and the first time in eight games the Bulldogs held a halftime lead over a Power 4 opponent (Oct. 19, 2024 in a 30-15 win at Texas).

    You are correct! Fast starts have to happen on both sides of the football, offense and defense. Fans and the media think of fast starts as scoring quickly, but it also means stopping the opponent from scoring. UGA's defense hasn't been very good at that this year and it's left the offense to play catchup. The Dawgs seem to play vanilla defense coming out and adjust to the offense as the game goes along; that's great when you're playing an opponent that's not very explosive offensively, but good offenses have moved the ball with relative ease against the Dawgs early in games.
