Auburn coach Hugh Freeze credits âbig and strongâ Georgia defense

âItâs very clear that we find ways to not win football games,â Freeze said. âThat (Auburn) locker room is good enough to play with anyone.â

it is clear the SEC officiating office has it in for Auburn! Oh well, better them than us…
Actually the announcers said, some time later, that the truck had been looking at the tape for some time and they all agreed that it was indeed a fumble. You tried so, so hard to make it a touchdown, Sean Mcdonough, but it really wasn't!
I disagree. At least in this game. I 100% understand the frustration but honestly, the calls they made were pretty spot on. Every review, I believe, was correct. Yes, it was a fumble. Yes, that guy targeted Stockton. Yes, it was roughing the passer.
I would argue we got hosed more than auburn. After the fumble, no whistle blew and we had a touchdown not called due to the refs saving face for having no clue where the ball was. Their 4th down run by the QB was only possible due to a blatant hold. Cash did not blindside. He was in front of the defender. It is on the defender to be aware, not the blocker to announce his intention.
Yes, it was a lot and again, if I was auburn, I’d be complaining, too but no, they did not get screwed.
Ahhhhh, ain't that cute, gotta a couple of adorable voting posts down. Stacey would be so proud of you. I know I am.
In any event, for the record I get that since it was ruled a fumble on the field that there was not enough definitive evidence to overturn the call, that goes both ways, had they called it a TD on the field it ALSO would not have been overturned so like i said earlier…oh well, better them than us. I. like you @87dawg am at a loss for why it was NOT a UGa TD after the ruling of a fumble was upheld. You are correct, there was no whistle, the refs just hosed that play up in every manner possible.
The targeting of Gunner was spot on, it was a dirty hit.
The timeout that Kirby can be seen mouthing but supposedly never called on the sidelines, again my opinion that it was better them than us. I think it was a no never-mind as far as playing a part in the outcome of the game as thankfully we ended up not needing that timeout later.
I'll simply close by saying if you don't think Cash blindsided that defender, you have no clue what the verbiage of the targeting rule states. A play like that is exactly why the rule is in effect, to avoid serious unnecessary injuries. I don't think Cash intentionally took out the defender so maliciously, but he did take him out in a manner consistent with the intent oof the blindside block rule, end of story, 15 yard penalty.
Now, by all means, carry on wo kes, vote down away! I think it is just a shame that Dawgnation shows who votes posts up but doesn't show who votes them down, silly yes?
Great post!
Agree with every word!
Yes it was a fumble …yes it was targeting…yes it was roughing the passer…yeas it was not a blindside block….yes they did hold…..
Also, the refs missed/did not call two blatant PIs against their defense which would have sustained two Dawg drives…
And I have got to give credit to our fans that were there…they were loud and proud..it was evident by the barners having two false starts and one delay of game penalty in their own stadium!
Never been more proud to be a Georgia Bulldog!
If they Had scored and everything went exactly the same in the second half Dawgs would Still have beat them by 3 points. So it’s a moot point to me. Coulda Shoulda, Woulda type thing. The most important Stat of All is hanging that big nice W up !! I’ll never cry tears for Auburn with the history they have !! Go Dawgs !!
Well, Freeze got one think correct. Yes, the ball broke the plane ( or is plain?). However, the QB didn’t have possession when that happened. The super-slow motion replay shows he was juggling the ball before the ball broke the plane. Therefore, and contrary to what I originally thought, the call that it was a fumble instead of a TD was correct. Now why the refs didn’t follow the normal protocol and let the play continue is baffling. Jones was not down. It should have been a TD for the Dawgs. So Tiger fans can complain all they want, but the team that got screwed out of a TD on that play was Georgia not Auburn.
